AVIATION
It is playing the leading role in the most spectacular drama in world history.
The airplane has proven itself to be the most devastating instrument of warfare ever invented.
Frontiers have become imaginary lines beneath the all-pervading threat of this new third-dimensional menace.
Our own watery ramparts have so shrunk in time size that America has awaked to the irrefutable fact that isolation is a myth.
But, paradoxically enough, as wings spread their lengthening shadow of fear their very threat suggests a hope for permanent peace.
The implications of aeronautical development become real and understandable when presented by such an outstanding authority as Canfield Cook.
HERE ARE HIS SUBJECTS:
Flying For Security
Our bid for Air Supremacy today—through the primary, basic and advanced transition stages of Flying Cadet training to tactical maneuvers with combat squadrons. An important defense contribution, the magnificent natural color film which forms a background to this lecture was produced with the official cooperation of the War Department and Army Air Corps. Sensational close-ups reveal Uncle Sam's Battleplanes on flight missions.
Aviation As A Career
The Amazing Opportunities unfolding for American Youth in the world's fastest growing industry. Normal, patriotic young citizens can today equip themselves for well paying positions and be compensated while gaining required experience. Natural color motion pictures depict these opportunities for BOTH young men and young women. The sky is literally the limit when Aviation is chosen as a Career.
The Influence of Aviation in World Affairs
International Diplomacy and Defense methods have been dictated by the growth of Air Power. The military thought of centuries, attuned to the flat surfaces of the earth has undergone a radical change in view of the new, third-dimensional threat from above. Ruthless dictators have used the gift of flight for wanton destruction. Frontiers have become imaginary lines for long range bombers and commercial air liners. But in the time size shrinkage of the world through speeded up communications the latter will prove a permanent boon, closely knitting the world of the future.
500 Miles An Hour
The History of Air Development and the application of super-speed planes in war and in peace. The future of stratosphere flight and its effect upon our civilization.
America Flies
The story of Air Transportation under the American Flag today and a preview of plans for tomorrow, illustrated with natural color motion pictures. Exclusive flight and ground sequences show behind the scenes activities, revealing the reasons for our supremacy in the air transportation field.

CANFIELD COOK
One of the youngest commissioned flying officers during the world war, Canfield Cook saw active service with Great Britain's Royal Air Force. His interest in aviation has kept pace with its development since that time. He has flown the air routes of the United States and those of foreign lands. Over thirty trips to Europe have brought an intimate knowledge of affairs abroad. As an official guest of foreign governments he has enjoyed privileges never accorded the casual traveler. Signal recognition was extended to him by the now devastated Republics of Finland and Poland.
He has been made a member by invitation of the Royal Aero Club of Great Britain, the Federation Aeronautique Internationale, the National Aeronautique Association and a charter member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. As an advocate of better world understanding his views on the Influence of Aviation in International Relations are sought by audiences throughout the nation—possibly the largest aggregation enjoyed by an individual speaker. Mr. Cook is an American citizen and recently at the invitation of the Air Corps completed the sensational, new color film used in Flying for Security and requiring over two thousand ground and flight hours to produce. The search for new material has necessitated frequent and extended travel with the result that whatever the subject on which he speaks, it is backed by a thorough knowledge of conditions and an intelligent understanding of the facts.
