Mildred J. Reid
nationally known Literary Critic and Lecturer
The author of the novel
The Devil's Handmaidens
and great-grand niece of The Brothers Grimm of fairy tale fame,
Presents:
1. BEHIND THE SCENES WITH A NOVELIST
If you have ever wondered how a novel comes into existence—from the first spark of an idea to the finished story—this is your opportunity to follow one from its inception through to the published book. Here is intimate, high adventure inside the mind of an outstandingly successful writer, given with simplicity, warmth and charm.
Miss Reid explains how source material is found; her own working methods; tells you why you like the books you do, and to complete the entertainment, reviews THE DEVIL'S HANDMAIDENS, her tense, historical novel of Colonial Massachusetts in 1692.
2. WRITERS: HERE'S HOW!
Here is a rare chance for aspiring writers to receive first hand, specific information on how to sell, from a nationally recognized author, critic and teacher. Miss Reid has led hundreds of untrained writers to success. Her clients have been published in national magazines from coast to coast.
If you are an unpublished writer her lecture may mark the turning point in your career—your first step toward publication and success. If you already have published, her information may guide you to still better markets.
You will be given a step by step analysis of the technical aspects of authorship, as outlined in her six textbooks. You are urged to prepare questions in advance to take full advantage of this rare opportunity.

About Mildred J. Reid
Mildred I. Reid who has lectured approximately 1500 times in both the U.S. and Canada is included in WHO'S WHO IN THE MIDWEST and WHO'S WHO IN ILLINOIS. During the summer she conducts her own school for writers in N.H., the only Writers' Colony where one may receive the invaluable benefit of constant, private writing guidance. During the winter she conducts classes at her Chicago studio, and at all times gives personal instruction by mail. Two of Miss Reid's textbooks were chosen to be transcribed into Braille; and all six of her texts have been recorded for the blind by the New York Public Library.
