FINLAND
That Amazing New Republic
★ Integrity's Last Stand, said the late Will Rogers, for Finland is the only country to pay its debt installments to Uncle Sam IN FULL and ON TIME!
★ First country to grant equal suffrage to men and women.
★ A modern mecca for the traveler where living costs are unbelievably low.
★ A delightful land with no evidences of poverty.
★ Where cooperatives are an integral part of commerce.
WHAT impressions does the word Finland convey to those who read it? Vague impressions of a land of snow and reindeer? Of music, perhaps to those who love Sibelius? Of modern architecture to those who know Saarinen? Of a fleet-footed, athletic race to those who have seen Nurmi and remember Finland's successes at the Olympic Games? Finland is all these things … and more.
Finland is a land of warmth, sunshine, and light. Picture more than seventy thousand lakes of varying size, dotted with sylvan isles … rugged ground covered with forests of pine, spruce, and birch in which the fields cleared by man are no more than a cloud or two in the immensity of the sky. Imagine this country caught in the surge of a brief spring and summer, under a sun unwilling to set even for an hour, throbbing with life and vitality. SUCH IS FINLAND.
Imagine it if you can—but better to see it in living, moving colors on the screen, portraying the vital life of this brave republic. Hear, too, the fascinating story of this sturdy race who clear the forests, till the fields, and build masterpieces of modern architecture with equal facility.

H. CANFIELD COOK'S TRAVEL PRESENTATIONS FOR 1937–1938
During the Spring and Summer months Mr. Cook will be in Europe preparing the series of Travel Presentations outlined below. Colored still and motion pictures will be used as a background for his travel talks. The colors shown on the screen will be accurately recorded by the finest photographic equipment available. Hand colored or tinted slides or films will not be used.
Bookings for the new subjects in addition to FINLAND so well received this season, may be made now for showing after October 15, 1937.
IRELAND: The Emerald Isle, famed in song and story is a subject to which everyone will respond whether they have kissed the Blarney Stone or not. The high spots in town and country from Belfast 'round to Dublin will be portrayed in Nature's own colors as a background for the narrative of Ireland's turbulent history. The program will include both Ulster and the Irish Free State and will be prepared this spring when the Isle is truly Emerald.
PARIS AND THE EXPOSITION: This year the greatest spectacle of all time is offered in Paris. You have seen many pictures of Paris on the screen or perhaps have enjoyed a visit there. In either case you'll thrill to this presentation for it's a new Paris you'll see. A city dressed in brilliant plumage with effects in colorful lighting never before attempted. Not only will the Exposition be recorded but also new angles of familiar scenes in and about the city. Any audience will enjoy this very timely subject.
BRITAIN: Mr. Cook knows Britain literally from the ground up for he has driven his car and flown his plane to sections seldom visited. This presentation is planned to include Literary and Historic Shrines of England, Scotland and Wales as well as entrancing beauty spots well off the regular travel lanes. A program of great educational value in the lovely, subdued color tones lavished by nature on this fortunate Isle.
POLAND: This Republic has played an important part in shaping America's destiny. Over one-half million Poles live in the City of Chicago alone. Scenically and Historically, Poland is one of the most fascinating countries in Europe. High mountains, vast sweeping plains, magnificent churches and colorful costumes all combine to rival the attractions of other European Nations. Mr. Cook visits Poland this year by official invitation and special facilities will be placed at his disposal to assure a complete and interesting record of Polish life. This presentation will prove that it pays to leave the beaten track in search of beauty.
DRIVE TO EUROPE: Mr. Cook believes there is one best way of seeing Europe and that is by car. This presentation will reveal many beauty spots not otherwise accessible and show how reasonably such a trip may be carried out from the time one leaves home until one returns. This program will be of particular interest to the many who plan some day to visit Europe and indicate new fields for the itinerant traveler.
