HELLMAN
figure
DAPHNE HELLMAN
HARPIST
Daphne Hellman, socialite and wife as well as harpist, has played her harp hot and cool in fashionable clubs from Gotham to Paris, and is equally delightful on the formal concert stage—
Dorothy Kilgallen.
DAPHNE HELLMAN, Harpist
. . . about Daphne Hellman
Destined to be trained as a harpist from the day her mother first heard the noted harpist Mildred Dilling, Miss Hellman began the study of the instrument with Renie in Paris, and subsequently studied with Miss Dilling, and for a short time with the famous artist Carlos Salzedo. She was trained as a classical harp soloist.
But in playing for friends in her home and for GI's during the war, she became equally expert in mixing classical and popular. She has often been asked to present concerts ranging from Bach to boogie-woogie. The content of her program is determined by the audience and the occasion.
She is equally effective in formal concerts and in lighter programs for such clubs as the Ruban Bleu in New York, Troika in Washington, Boeuf sur le Toit in Paris.
The diversity of her program and type of appeal is indicated by her great success before such widely differing audiences as the Phillips Gallery of Washington, St. Johns College of Annapolis, Miss Porter's School of Farmington, Walter Reed Hospital, University of Minnesota, Billy Rose Diamond Horseshoe, Mars Club of Cannes, France, etc., etc.

Thrilled audience with her interpretation of Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody.—
The New York Herald Tribune.
A sprite-like blonde beauty delighted the members of the Woman's Club at their annual luncheon … She concluded her versatile program with two folk songs … but the audience would not let her go.—
The Morning Call, Allentown, Penna.
Daphne Hellman is a find. A sprite-like English Beauty, she plays the harp, flitting from something like Malaguena to swing with the ease of a master. Her varied career includes phases as actress, cover girl, painter as well as musician.—
Theatre Program Magazine.
Expert Harpist with extraordinary string magic.—
New York Journal American.
Her musical fingers add spice to the strings of her harp while her dramatic talents zoomed her rating to the top of our most popular programs.—
Technical Institute, Alfred University, N. Y.
This exceptionally talented and attractive harpist entertained the Woman's Club with a versatile program. She probably shocked David and the angels by making her harp render some excellent boogie-woogie but she obviously delighted her earthly audience.—
Clarksburg, W. Va.
At the Chateau we saw Geoffrey Hellman (The New Yorker Scribe) beaming over a blondish harp-playing angel. It's his wife Daphne.—
Walter Winchell on Broadway.
