Figure
Jane Dillon is a versatile character actress and radio artist whose clever impersonations have won international praise. Miss Dillon is a one-woman theatre in herself. Her program of skillful interpretations is excellent entertainment!
JANE DILLON
Although she is well known as a radio artist and writer, it is as an exceptionally gifted character actress that Jane Dillon has won international recognition. She presents a varied program of impersonations which are complete and comprehensive studies accompanied by swift changes of voice, appearance and mood.
Jane dillon had theatrical ambitions at an early age and while she was still in high school she won the State Dramatic Contest Award. She comes of Quaker stock and at her parents' insistence, she attended Northwestern University. After her graduation, she taught speech and English literature at the University of Iowa for a year and then she deserted the academic world for the stage.
She first appeared in dramatic concerts and recitals, later went on a world tour on the variety circuit. Wherever she appeared, her performances merited and received much praise.
While she was in England, she appeared on several programs for the British Broadcasting Company. On her return to this country, she supplemented her stage appearances with radio performances on WEAF, WOR, WTAM, KJR and at present, has several programs weekly on WTIC in Connecticut. Her remarkable vocal facility is put to good use on these broadcasts and her impersonations frequently carry such conviction that her listeners write to them as real people.
Jane Dillon writes much of her own material and at present, is doing a syndicated series of radio transcriptions called Famous Mothers, in which every character is interpreted by her. Miss Dillon also does special feature writing for the Christian Science Monitor. She has authored two books, Greater Love and Through Lighted Windows. She is a member of the Artists and Writers of Connecticut and the National Pen and Brush Club, New York.
Miss Dillon's intelligent, sympathetic and humorous approach to her character studies is responsible for much of the real enjoyment with which her entertaining performances are received as she presents Glimpses of Life.
