The Lady Washington Quartette
We take pleasure in calling your attention to this exceptional organization which has appeared in leading lyceum courses and Chautauquas with remarkably uniform success. They are prepared to give high class entertainments that are different from those usually offered by similar companies—just that touch of originality that spells success. Their programs are strong in those quaint and humorous numbers so acceptable with Chautauqua audiences, as well as the selections of a more classical nature. While every member of the quartette is a soloist of exceptional ability, their programs are rich in quartette and trio features as well as sketches that add variety and interest. They have proven in the past to be one of the most popular musical features we have offered Assemblies.
The Breeze, De Funiak Springs, Florida.
—Lady Washington Quartette of Chicago, popular singers, each member a finished artist.
St. Petersburg Times, Florida.
—Lady Washington Quartette, best in America.
The Sentinel, Woodstock.
—The entertainment given last Monday evening at the opera house by the Lady Washington Quartette was a complete success and gave splendid satisfaction to a large and appreciative audience.
Hamilton Daily.
—During the past session of Chautauqua the audiences have been more than pleased to listen to the programs rendered by the members of the Lady Washington Quartette. These ladies are gifted not only with beautiful voices, but are also very pleasing in their manner and have responded most willingly to the many encores accorded them.
Henderson Times.
—The Lady Washington Quartette began the evening program by more than confirming the excellent impression they made at their first appearance in the afternoon. Their rendering of the negro melodies was exceedingly pleasing.
Elgin News.
—The Lady Washington Quartette which appeared in the Chautauqua, sang several fine selections, and in the evening were heartily received. Their Little Boy Blue was especially fine.
Hoopeston Daily Chronicle.
—The Lady Washington Quartette closed their engagement here with a sacred concert Sunday afternoon. In spite of the drenching rain the people stood around under umbrellas, refusing to go home until they had heard the concert. The ladies make a specialty of their sacred concerts and those who withstood the storm were fully compensated for their bravery. We hope by another year that the quartette may be able to sing for us under more favorable conditions.
Paducah Daily News.
—The Lady Washington Quartette is an attraction in which the committee of arrangements have made a find. This is the third Southern tour for the Lady Washington Quartette. It never fails to secure return dates where it has once sung.
Ross Crane, New York.—I have heard many quartettes composed of women, but I can say with all sincerity that for harmonious blending of voices, for sweetness and fullness, for delicacy of shading, breadth of expression, excellence and variety of program, none of them equal the Lady Washington Quartette.
Bureau County Record, Princeton, Ill.
—Our town was honored last Wednesday and Thursday nights by one of the best musical events heard in this section; in fact, the best vocal concert ever held here. The Lady Washington Quartette of Chicago. Four voices that blend more perfectly would be difficult to find. The rendition of each number was characterized by grace and perfect harmony. The Lady Washington Quartette will always be a favorite here.
Florida Sun.
—The program on Monday evening was one of the best of the entire Chautauqua from a musical standpoint. The Lady Washington Quartette is composed of four as good voices as one will find in any similar organization, and we feel safe in asserting that it is the best ever in Gainesville. Those who enjoy sweet music should hear them.
Rev. J. B. Hawk.—The Lady Washington Quartette appeared at the Chautauqua of the Tropics, Melbourne, Florida. Their singing, both as a quartette and as soloists, is of a very high order. They were encored again and again with enthusiasm. Many since the Chautauqua closed have desired their re-engagement for the next session. They also won the hearts of the management and of all others with whom they became acquainted by their gracious spirit and their charming manners.
Litchfield Herald.
—The evening performance of the first days' Chautauqua consisted of a concert by the Lady Washington Quartette of Chicago. The first number was Eugene Field's Little Boy Blue, and it was rendered as well as ever heard in Litchfield. A musical sketch depicting life in a home in which an old melodian was a favorite was well received. The Four Maidens was undoubtedly the best of the encores. The ladies were in excellent voice and were well received.
Delevan Republican.
—The Lady Washington Quartette of Chicago made their first appearance on Thursday and were greeted with rounds of applause. They remained four days and assisted materially in making the closing of the Assembly a grand success.
James H. Shaw, Superintendent, Bloomington.—We had the Lady Washington Quartette at our Chautauqua and were greatly pleased. It is hard to get a good ladies' quartette, but the Lady Washington Quartette is one that is good and popular with the Chautauqua audiences.
B. G. Lowrey, Manager of the Gulfport Chautauqua, Blue Mountain, Miss.
—The Lady Washington Quartette has been one of the very best and most drawing features of our Chautauqua. Their work is of a high grade and they delight their audiences. We have found them to be genuine, modest, womanly women.
La Porte Daily.
—The Lady Washington Quartette gave a most excellent entertainment at 7:30 Thursday evening. Their enunciation is very pleasing and their voices blend together beautifully. For the past two winters they have been singing in Florida and will be there again this winter.
