The Festival Trio
Willard Page, Crayon Artist and Entertainer.
Ione Senn, Violinist.
Ethel Iles, Accompanist and Vocalist.
A very unusual company and one whose success has been established by the outstanding merit of those who compose it.
Their chief ambition is to entertain. Their program is marked by VARIETY, ARTISTRY and SINCERITY.
Though as a company they do so many things so amazingly well, their program is relieved from the danger of being a hodge podge by their plan of grouping their work about a central theme. The following are some of the subjects which they use for development:
Beauties Often Overlooked.
Bridging the Chasm.
Where Beauty Bides.
Knee Deep in Nature.
Each subject is sufficient for an entire program, and in each the company will prove their maxim
that it takes all kinds of good people to make a good world.
That Mr. Page is an entertainer of exceptional ability is attested by his success on the platform for several seasons and literally hundreds of testimonials by newspaper critics. The following are a few of the more recent ones:
Mr. Willard Page, crayon artist, reader and story teller, is a REAL artist, and his landscape work was wonderfully well done. He is decidedly the best to visit this city.—
DeSmet, S. D., News.
Many crayon artists do not interest their audiences because they cannot talk well as they draw. Mr. Page is brimful of wit and humor. Every number on the program was enjoyed.—
Conrad, la., Record.
We have had crayon artists and crayon artists before, but somehow Mr. Page's work gives a different conception of what the work implies. Rapid and artistic were the creations unfolded by his pencils. He has a fine stage presence and a pleasing voice, so that his readings were not the least appreciated part of his program. If he ever again visits Thurman, he will have a hearty welcome.—
Thurman, Ia., Times.
Miss Ione L. Senn, Violinist, is an artist who has been heard on both sides of the Atlantic. Her playing met with much favorable criticism in Germany, Switzerland and England. Since returning to America musical critics have been unanimous in their praise of her remarkable ability.
Miss Senn has shown herself not only the master of a brilliant technique, but a real artist in musical interpretation.—
Sheffield Times.
Miss Senn at once captured her hearers by her beautiful singing tone and displayed not only a magnificent technique but musical intelligence of a high order.—
Columbus, Ga.
Miss Senn was heard in the Vieuxtemps Concerto. Not only does she understand, but she manifests an entire sympathy and accord with the thought expressed, and her tone is clear and eloquent.—
Chicago Tribune.
Miss Senn revealed herself a thorough musician. She draws a sympathetic tone, her technique is firm and reliable and her phrasing proclaimed her true artistic instinct.—
San Francsco[sic Francisco] Examiner.
From the delicate old dances to the most difficult passages of the Vieuxtemps Concerto the subtle understanding and the splendid technique of Miss Senn's work was a constant delight to the critical and highly appreciative audience.—
Seattle Citizen.
Miss Ethel Iles, Accompanist and Vocalist, adds much to the program by her splendid work at the piano, assisting the other artists. She also accompanies herself as she sings with a sweet and sympathetic voice the tender songs of long ago, which Mr. Page illustrates with the crayon.
