A WORD FROM MR. ABORN TO CHAUTAUQUA, LYCEUM AND CONCERT MANAGERS
A PRODUCER of opera endeavoring to establish, and maintain ideals of education and of usefulness which will result in permanent benefit to his audience must entertain a double purpose. First, to offer to his audience an attraction which will afford the public every opportunity for entertainment and education; second, to exercise, not only among his immediate audience but as far a field as possible, an influence making toward a fuller and more just appreciation of opera. No better way than the Chautauqua or Lyceum can be found to satisfy the universal
desire for opera. There is scarcely any entertainment offered more conducive to close attention and give your clientele an operatic production worthy of the high calling Chautauqua and Lyceum stands for? It has taken determination and deep study to overcome many obstacles which presented themselves in order to put the operas I am offering in suitable form so that they might be presented artistically with such facilities as Chautauqua and Lyceum platforms afford and also to meet the high musical standard desired and expected by patrons of the Chautauqua and Lyceum courses. The grand operas as I have them arranged for production, to be sung without a chorus, is not experimental with me. I have produced them and know that they meet with special favor with the public. By my plan a considerable production expense is eliminated‐an item well worth considering and one, I am sure, will be appreciated by the different managements. The question then for the different managements to decide is, where are the greatest returns for the money invested in the different courses to be had, and in making your selection there is only this basis for judgement, namely: the standard of the production and the results obtained. With a standard of high excellence maintained satisfactory and artistic results are readily obtained. My past record as a producer of opera is an open book and on of which I am exceedingly proud. For this reason I would not at this late day offer to you or the public anything which might in any way smack of the inferior. If any of my productions interest you, I pledge you my word that every company has been selected and rehearsed personally by me and that they go to you handsomely costumed, ready for your first engagement and with my guaarantee as to their singing and acting ability.

A WORD ABOUT THE SCHOOL OF OPERA
The aim of the school is to educate singers who desire to make a serious study of opera and to give to the singers of this country the same opportunity for such preparation here as formerly made a European trip necessary. With what measure of success the school has met is evidenced by the fact teat the Metropolitan, Chicago, San Carlo and other opera companies number among their members student of this school. On the Chautauqua and Lyceum platforms also many Aborn students may be heard. The course of instruction has been systematized so the student may become proficient in any number of roles and have the actual have the actual performance of their roles with a complete cast. Public trial appearances designed for the pupils required facilities which only a specially constructed building could offer, and so the Aborn Miniature was designed and constructed under Mr. Aborn's personal supervision. The theatre has a commodious stage all equipped with scenery and with modern electrical and mechanical effects. The faculty has been engaged because of their extensive experience and thorough qualifications in just this line of work. They are conductors of long experience and of high repute and the stage amd dramatic directors arc of equal prominence. Every student enrolled lit the school has the personal attention and supervision of Mr. Aborn. Every public performance of the school by the students is conducted with all the discipline, precision and detail of a professional performance. Entrance to the Aborn School may he made at any time and the student's term begins with the first lesson.

COMMUNITY OR HOME TALENT PRODUCTIONS
ARRANGEMENTS may be made with this office for the production of opera in cities where it is desired to use local talent. The production may be made under the auspices of choral societies or any body of people organized for the promotion of opera and musical affairs. These community or home talent operatic performances may be given entirely, cast and chorus, by the local singers or a cast may be sent and the local singers would form the chorus. In either case a dramatic director to stage the production would be sent on after the music of the opera has been thoroughly rehearsed by the local director. This method of producing opera has proved very successful and has been the means of crating an unusual amount of interest in local musical affairs.

IN offering a list of light operas available for Lyceum or the Chautauqua, strict attention has been paid as to the character of the story told as well as the popularity of the music. GRAND OPERAS
IN presenting the following list of grand operas it is my purpose to show the number of artists actually required for the production. It will be noticed that no chorus is used as the continuity of the opera can be maintained by the cast alone. Every opera listed has been given publicly under my direction to the entire satisfaction and I may say enthusiastic reception of both public and press. All operas are to be given in costume and with dramatic action which brings the performance up to a standard traditionally correct in every detail. In addition to the cast as given, a pianist must be added to furnish the accompaniment.
