THE MURRAY FAMILY ORCHESTRA
IOWA'S WELL KNOWN ORCHESTRA
IOWA'S WELL KNOWN ORCHESTRA,
playing lyceums, chautauquas, state fairs, hotels, clubs, schools. This orchestra has never failed to get a return date, their music is high class with plenty of
pep.
This well known Iowa Orchestra,
The Murray Family,
was booked from early June to October, playing: Hotels, Chautauquas, and State Fairs; and played for the third consecutive year, the entire musical programs for the main Exposition Building, at the Iowa State Fair and Exposition at Des Moines. Closed the season of 1924 playing the main Exposition Building at the Dairy Cattle Congress and National Belgium Horse Show at Waterloo, Iowa, September 22 to 28, inclusive.
This orchestra furnished the concerts for more than eight consecutive weeks at the Templar Park Hotel, Spirit Lake, one of Iowa's exclusive hotels. Superintendent Schneider has to say:
I am pleased to be able to tell you that The Murray Family Orchestra gave good satisfaction at Templar Park the past season… The members of your orchestra made many friends while there and I found them to be nice people to get along with… We wish you continued success in the future.
Mr. Corey, Secretary of the Iowa State Fair and Exposition, Des Moines, says:
We have had a great many orchestras play at the Iowa State Fair but I can truthfully say that we have had more compliments, on the concerts rendered by the Murray Family Orchestra, in the Agricultural Building last year, than all the rest of the orchestras put together. In fact the exhibitors had a meeting at the close of the fair and requested that we engage this orchestra for next year's fair. They seem to have the faculty of playing the sort of music that a fair crowd enjoys. On account of them carrying a number of soloists, they are able to vary their program and render something new each day of the fair. I am very glad to recommend this orchestra to any fair manager desiring a high class musical organization for concert work in their main buildings.
Storm Lake, Iowa, Chautauqua Program Committee writes:
Your orchestra proved to be the very best drawing card of any attraction on our program, and the large audience was delighted with the entertainment offered. The young people gave a concert which was varied and artistic and one which would appeal to an audience… We
are entirely satisfied with the showing made by your talented orchestra.
Broadcasting program, for the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway, from WOC, Davenport, General Passenger Agent Mr. Haynes, says:
Our reports are that the music was much appreciated by the thousands who listened in… and the program was good.
Eminent Commander Dr. B. L. Sheldon, Apollo Commandery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa:
We have had 'The Murray Family Orchestra' play for us on various occasions. They are a nice clean family morally, and of unusual musical talent, being able to render any kind of a program from popular to classical.
Hon. John Hammill, Governor of Iowa, says:
I had the pleasure of hearing the Murray Family Orchestra, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at the State Fair, and I congratulate both you and the members of the orchestra on their splendid performance. Each player is an artist in his line, the program was excellent and high class in every respect.
St. Paul's M. E. Church, Iowa's largest, Official Board, says:
In our estimation it is easy to account for your popularity. You are there on time or ahead, you are all there, your selections harmonize to the spirit of each occasion, your performance always merits the applause of the lovers of standard classical work. May your good influence on middle-west musical interests long continue.
Former Superintendent of Public Instruction, the Hon. P. E. McClenahan, writes:
I have heard The Murray Family Orchestra at the Iowa State Fair and upon a number of other occasions. Each time I have heard them I enjoyed their music very much. The Murray Orchestra is an unusual group of musicians and it always gives me great pleasure to hear them. I am personally acquainted with Roy W. Murray, the father of the children, and a former member of the Iowa legislature, and have always found him very much alive and thoroughly reliable in everything that he undertakes. I can most hearily endorse his attempt to present an orchestra which furnishes high class music and which will entertain the most select musician.
The members of this orchestra are the children of Roy W. Murray, the Manager. Mr. Murray was Representative from the 78th District of Iowa in the 36th and 37th General Assemblies. He is a member of the Iowa Bar, and is well known throughout the Northwest.
CHURCH and SCHOOL
PROGRAMS
Why not give your church or school the OPPORTUNITY to hear an ORCHESTRA, with an Inter-State reputation.
Give them a lyceum number at first cost, deal direct with the talent, you can make money for your church and get a program that the price might be prohibitive if you engage them through an agency or bureau.
We give full and complete programs, full crchestra, including readings, vocal and whistling solo's, duets, in fact we know what your people appreciate.
We furnished the musical program for the Governor of Iowa's Inaugural at the state Capitol building, Des Moines, Jan. 15th 1925. We are playing for the fourth consecutive year the entire musical programs for the main Exposition building, Iowa State Fair and Exposition, Des Moines, also Nebraska State Fair. Lincoln, and many other state functions. We furnish the musical programs for the Iowa Knights Templar Special Pullman train to Seattle, and Van Cover, B. C. in July, also at the Iowa Knights Templar headquarters, Seattle.
The success of your chautauqua is assured if you feature, The Murray Family Orchestra. Write for photographs and further information.
We are always dated ahead, write or phone us for dates.
