The Pilgrim Girls Orchestra
BOSTON has ever been associated with the early history of this country, and is the center of American musical activities. The Pilgrims were a central figure in this early period. It is our endeavor to combine the historical and musical interests emanating from the Boston of early days in an attractive evening's entertainment. A complete orchestra, garbed in the quaint dress of the Pilgrim, is the basis of the program. This company proved a big success this season and is again under the supervision of Miss Gove. She is not only an excellent musician, but one of the cleverest program makers in the Lyceum. The program will abound in splendid selections of such a character as to thoroughly satisfy both music lovers and entertainment seekers. The personnel is as follows:
Hannah Wych Gove—Violinist and Manager
Letetia Marie Record—Clarinetist
Marjorie Leavitt Record—Cello
Mara W. Conover—Reader, Soprano, Pianis;
Terese Record—French Horn
Lillian Griffin—Drums, Traps and Bells
MARA W. CONOVER, Reader
MISS CONOVER'S splendid readings and soprano solos will add much to the attractiveness of the programs of this versatile company. She has been a big success for four seasons in various organizations, more especially for two seasons with The Schuberts, and has recently studied with Elias Day, with whose help she has arranged and written many clever bits for her program. Cleverness characterizes everything she does. She is a fine artist, both as a reader and as a singer.
Radford, Va., News
—Radford has had no higher class entertainment than that of the Pilgrim Girls. Miss Hannah Wych Gove, the violinist, is an artist of fine attainment and her playing was a delight which constantly grew. Alone she would have been a whole evening's treat. With 'cello, etc., a program was given that was not only satisfying but entirely convincing.
New Bethlehem, Pa., Vindicator
—These Pilgrim Girls are firmly anchored to the Plymouth Rock of success. Each one is clever, versatile and charming. May they come again into the hearts of New Bethlehem citizens for they are assured of a hearty welcome.
Nashville Tennesseean
—Miss Gove gets from her instrument a tone of clear, singing quality. She first rendered L'Aragenesu and responded to two encores.
Marathon, N. Y., Independent
—the opening number of the Lyceum course on Monday night by the Pilgrim Girls was the best entertainment ever given in a course here. Miss Hannah W. Gove, who is a favorite here, appeared as leader of an orchestral combination that was more than excellent.
Hardwick, Vt., Gazette
—Everyone pronounced it the best entertainment we have been favored with for years.
Wiliamson, W. Va., News
—The Pilgrim Girls are all artists and wholly deserving of the praise given them without stint by our people.
