Recognition of her supreme gifts and the winning appeal of her exuberant personality are among the many enviable assets of this sensational young American violinist. A holder of numerous fellowships, including the Juilliard Graduate School, the Schmidlapp, Fleischman, and Woolley International scholarships, she is a graduate of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, where she has the distinction of being the youngest artist ever to have achieved the highest honor diploma in violin, and a Bachelor of Music Degree conferred upon her at the age of seventeen.
Joyce Wasserman has appeared extensively in concert and as soloist with symphony orchestras here and in Europe, and recently was the soloist on the occasion of the first personal concert tour of Dr. Frank Simon and his famous Armco Radio Band. She was chosen to demonstrate the Wurlitzer rare violin collection at the New York Convention, and in New York has also appeared as soloist with the Beethoven Association, Town Hall Club, Ohio State Governor's Dinner, Advertising Club, Lowell Thomas Dinner, United States Senators' Banquet, Phi Delta Gamma Convention, at the New York World's Fair for Ohio Day, and the American Music Festival. Among the many honors bestowed on her is the award of the coveted medal of the Ohio Society of New York.
A familiar figure in the broadcasting studios, Miss Wasserman has played frequently over the National Broadcasting Company, Columbia Broadcasting System and Mutual networks as well as on television broadcasts.
Miss Wasserman's musicianship is of a very high order — her playing is filled with the glow of youth, with a firm, sure tone and a variety of warmth and color. She compasses the delicacy of a woman with the strength of a man, and in all her work, she evidences good taste reflecting the absorption in her work and her serious innate love of music. Wherever she appears, the press and public are unanimous in their praise of her outstanding musical and artistic ability.
