The peculiar charm of the quaint and plaintive Southern Melodies is not only indescribable but imperishable.
As sung by selected voices from among the American negroes, these rare old plantation songs take on new and more fascinating charms.
The ecstatic joys and the hopes of a race, even while in bondage permeated their music, became the dominant characteristic of their lives and are even today reflected in their Jubilees, Camp-meeting Shouts and Folk-Songs, to such an extent that the American people, with a few individual exceptions, prefer this form of entertainment to many others.
The irresistible lure of the Jubilee Singers' entertainment increases from year to year, and the door receipts are always at maximum when the
Colored Singers
appear.
Of the numerous troupes which with more or less success have entertained the public since
the war
closed, no one has more constantly and consistently pleased, than
THE MASONS.
The Reasons are evident:
The individual members are carefully selected.
The leader is a
natural
Director with a splendid voice and rare good sense.
The Mason's repertoire embraces all of the genuine Southern Songs, together with numerous original specialties.
THEY CHARM THE EAR, TICKLE THE RIB, AND SATISFY THE SOUL!
…
Expectations more than met
Corroborative
MILFORD, IOWA. — They delighted our people with their choruses, solos, speaking and instrumental selections. Everything is of the highest order. They are bound to please. Hear and see them if possible.
— M. D.
BUSH,
Pastor M. E. Church
CHICAGO, ILL. — Every number on their program was heartily applauded by a very enthusiastic audience. The company is composed of ladies and gentlemen who are artists in their line, and who will not fail to please.
— M. M.
JOHNSTONE,
Pastor 52d Ave. Presbyterian Church
PIERRE, S. D. — To say that the singers gave entire satisfaction is putting it mildly. They completely captivated the big audience with their opening selection, and held them in delightful expectation until the closing number was rendered. Not an adverse criticism was heard from anyone. Mason's Jubilee Singers are good singers, and comedians as well.

REV. A. H. SWARTZ,
Pastor First Baptist Church
JOHANNESBURG, MICH. — The Mason's Jubilees have been with us for two nights — Saturday and Sunday. We have thus enjoyed two concerts — the one secular, the other sacred. They gave the right thing at the right time, rendered in the right way. No educational or religious institution need hesitate in accepting their offer to present a programme that shall combine culture, technic, and entertainment of a high order.
— A. B.
IMRIE,
Minister Congregational Church
GREIGSVILLE, N. Y. — The Masons were with us last evening and gave us an excellent concert. The program was so arranged as to give variety, and each number was heartily encored. The solo work of the soprano was of the most excellent and pleasing character. Culture and refinement marked the appearance of the Masons, both on the platform and off. I am sure we could not have opened our course with a better number.
—
THOMAS G. COFFEE,
Principal
HARTFORD, N. Y. — The entertainment given by the Masons here last night was perfectly fine. Every one said it was the best thing we have had here in a long time. Several said it was the best we have ever had. They are just splendid people and if they are in this vicinity again at any time and there is any chance of our having them, we want to know it.
—
HARRIETT E. MAYNARD
WATERBURY CENTRE, VT. — The Mason Jubilee Singers were with us last evening, and played to a very large and appreciative audience. They are entertainers in every sense of the word and gave the people perfect satisfaction. It gives me pleasure to write this.
— A. A.
NEWCOMB
SCHENECTADY, N. Y. — We would advise that the Mason Jubilee Singers gave us a fine entertainment last evening, and the people were more than pleased.
— J. G.
TAYLOR
HUNTINGTON, VT. — I have not seen an audience seem to enjoy themselves so much for years in this place, and every one is speaking in the highest praise of the Mason Jubilee Singers.
— E. H.
HINDS
BANGALL, N. Y. — Every one was delighted with the entertainment. They gave a good program and kept things humming right along.
