The Aida Quartette is a well known musical organization from New York City which presents a program of high standard in violin, cornet, trumpet and piano music. On its tour the coming season, the quartette will be accompanied by Mr. C. Pol Plancon, a noted baritone.
Has Appeared With World-Famous Artists
The fact that the Aida Quartette has appeared on the same program with such world-famous artists as Schumann-Heink, Bispham, and others, a complete list of whom can be found on page 3 of this circular, in itself speaks volumes to musicians as to the standing of this notable Eastern organization. Every musician knows, for instance, that artists who appear with Madame Schumann-Heink must be those recognized for their musical attainments.
Skilled Musical Critic's Comment
It will be noted that the press comments that are published in this circular are those of the great metropolitan press—the newspapers which regularly employ skilled musical critics. The New York Tribune, for example, says: The Aida Quartette played the march from Verdi's 'Aida' with spirit and precision.
Only Woman Solo Trumpeter in the World
The Aida Quartette is composed of Miss Edna White, the only solo trumpeter of her sex in the world; Miss Norma Sauter, violinist, a pupil of Franz Kneisel; Miss Cora Sauter, cellist, a pupil of Leo Schulz; and Miss Ruth Wolfe, a well known pianiste.
Miss White, after an early training under her father's direction, became the pupil of Adolphe Dubois of the New York Symphony Orchestra from whom she received a broad conception and interpretation of the classical, as well as the more brilliant style of music, a combination too rare among students of wind instruments.
Have Famous Musical Ancestors
The Misses Sauter are direct descendants of Franz Wehrberger, Ludwig Jagerhuber and Severin Sauter. Their grandfather, Franz Wehrberger, conducted the grand opera in Trieste, Austria, and brought out several of Verdi's operas under the latter's personal supervision. Ludwig Jagerhuber was a member of Richard Wagner's orchestra as his oboe soloist, and was honored in being numbered among the intimate friends of that famous composer. Severin Sauter was conductor of the court orchestra of the Duke of Hohenzollern. In 1848 he came to America and in St. Louis organized an orchestra where he was at once recognized leader in musical circles as solo violinist and as conductor.
C. Pol Plancon, A Singer With Dramatic Ability
C. Pol Plancon, a relative of Plancon the world famous French basso, was born in France. He has been connected with the Boston Conservatory of Music and has had considerable experience in grand opera. He is an enthusiastic singer of marked dramatic ability. His program is of wide range. Too much cannot be said in praise of Mr. Plancon's great voice and musical ability. His appearance in any community, capable of appreciating the best in music, will be long remembered.

Miss Norma Sauter played the Fantasie Appassionata by Vieuxtemps with spirit and dash. She possesses a large sympathetic tone, and has an abundance of temperament and emotion.—

Miss Edna White played Rhapsodie Heroique, by Armand Raynaud, with orchestral accompaniment. She possesses the technique and accuracy of touch which is expected of a mature performer, without exhibiting weariness of either mind or body.—

Of the many numbers on the program there was none that was so finely done as those of Mr. C. Pol Plancon, baritone. In each instance his solos were excellently given and served to mark the zenith of artistic finish in all that a true lover of music could desire, which fact alone accounted for the ovation given the singer at the conclusion.—

The novelty of the evening was the playing of the AIDA TRUMPET QUARTETTE, an organization of four young women whose attractiveness and excellent playing won the audience. The usual blatant qualities of the trumpets were subdued until the tonal effect was soft and delicate, and the appreciation of this fact compelled several numbers to be added on the program.—

His singing last evening was characterized by a fidelity to correctness in tonal expression that was admirable, while his phrasing in general was perfect, marking his work with a finish that could not help but bring forth such rounds of applause as were accorded him.—

Miss Cora Sauter deiighted her hearers with the excellent execution of the cello and the beautiful tones which she produced from it. She played the Vito by Popper and the audience was most appreciative of the splendid work.—

With a grace and ease of manner that made his singing all the more delightful to those assembled, Mr. C. Pol Plancon sang his way into the hearts of the entire audience. He had several selections on the program, the most notable of which was the Nom piu andrai (Mozart), from Figaro, which he sang with a finesse sufficient to mark him as one of exceptional capabilities. Each of his numbers was well received.—
