THE A & A MELODY ARTISTSMagaret Ringgold – Constance Neville-Johns
The A and A Melody Artists are radio, stage and concert favorites from two continents, Australia and America.Miss Margaret Ringgold, brilliant American pianist, composer and entertainer and Constance Neville-Johns, popular Australian lyric coloratura soprano and entertainer compose the A and A Melody Artists. These excellent artists are not only musicians of the highest class, but excellent entertainers as well. Their porgram will have variety plus. It will be an International Review–a striking program of songs and sketches of many lands. The program will be well staged and beautifully costumed.
MARGARET RINGGOLD Margaret Ringgold came into a great deal of prominence a few years ago in her own state of Oklahoma when she won first place in a piano contest, which was held under the auspices of the Federated Music Clubs of America. Since that time she has come into a great deal of prominence not only as a pianist but also as an entertainer in many important places in America and even abroad, where she continued her studies on the piano. She has toured from one end of the United States to the other and extensively in France and England. For two seasons she was accompanist and piano soloist with Miss Frances Ingram, noted contralto of the Metropolitan Opera company. Miss Ringgold is more than a pianist. She is an excellent entertainer. Her pianologues are bright and captivating. Her sketches are original and clever. She arranges every detail, costuming, staging, etc. In all her programs Miss Ringgold includes a number of her own compositions. She is truly a gifted composer and many of her songs are being sung by a number of noted artists and artist organizations. In her radio broadcasting, her own compositions have always been splendid features. Miss Ringgold is a real artist. She has much personal beauty and charm. That is why she is a concert, radio and stage favorite.
CONSTANCE NEVILLE-JOHNS Constance Neville-Johns is an Australian singer who has justly earned her international reputataion as an artist. In addition to being a fine singer she is a splendid lecturer-entertainer.
Miss Neville-Johns was born in the beautiful city of Melbourne, Australia. She has a lyric coloratura sporano voice of magnetic range and wonderfully pure tone. She has traveled extensively all over the world and given her novel Australian program, a talk on Australia, illustrated with folk songs, native weapons, bird calls, etc. Miss Neville-Johns can sing in five languages, if necessary, and many of her groups are done in costume. In this International Review Program there will be specially written costumed sketches and duets with Margaret Ringgold.
Miss Nevill-Johns has the distinction of being the first person in Australia to broadcast. Since then her broadcasting activities have been many – Chicago, New York, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia – in both local and chain programs.
Miss Ringgold and Miss Neville-Johns will give a program that is artistic, that is varied, that is entertaining. Nothing quite like it has ever been offered before.
