The Brown–Meneley Entertainers
HERE is something new in a two person company—a male duo. Just why it hasn't been done before we don't know, but it has been years since Redpath offered two men in a program.
This just happened, as it were, because it was discovered that these two young men have the ability to put over so complete a program that even an additional artist is superfluous. In fact a third person would just be in the way, and would use up time you will want to be available for Carl and Glen.
CARL BROWNhas been a member of Redpath companies for the past dozen years. The summer of 1922 he starred in the big Black and White Minstrels on Mr. Vawter's Chautauqua, and filled a like position again in 1923. The past winter he has filled a long season with Mr. Meneley as Carl Brown and Pal.
GLEN MENELEYhas had a number of years experience in lyceum and Chautauqua and during the summer of 1923 he and Carl Brown met up with each other in the minstrel company, and he was adopted at once as Carl's pal.
Both young men are splendid singers, both play the piano and cathedral chimes. In additional Mr. Brown is a delightful humerous entertainer. Thus it will be seen that a large amount of variety is given in the program, but never at the sacrifice of quality.
The many years these young men have been on the platform has tought them what the public really enjoys—and they have built an ideal program. There is enough humor in it to make everyone forget their troubles for an evening; there is enough good music to delight those who can appreciate it, and there is tuneful songs for those who do not enjoy a song unless it has a catchy melody and they can understand the words.
The fine set of chimes which they play unusually well, and Mr. Brown's readings provide the novelty. They have some snappy costumes, do some character sketches, and never fail to please.
A SAMPLE COMMITTEE REPORT
The Bureau has scores of fine comments on file, but just one will suffice to show the enthusiasm they arouse: Hip hurrah for Carl Brown and Glen Meneley, writes Mr. L. J. Kohler, West Bend, Iowa. They are the best lyceum number ever listened to in this community.
