ENDORSEMENTS A CROSS THE CONTINENT
Syracuse, N. Y. The Otterbein Male Quartet and Bell Ringers greatly delighted a large audience at the Tabernacle Baptist Church of Syracuse, N. Y. The company is composed of real artists. In every song there is life and action, as well as sweet music and perfect harmony. They are simply great. The solo work was excellent. As a reader and impersonator, Mr. Engle greatly excels. He kept his audience in a roar of laughter. The bell ringing was superb, and proved to be one of the most pleasing and entertaining features of the evening. Again and again they were encored, the audience seeming never to lag or tire or get enough. Should the Otterbeins come to our city again, a most enthusiastic reception awaits them.—Rev. T. B. Caldwell, Pastor.
Cincinnati, Ohio. The Otterbein Quartet entertained in our Association Hall, Oct. 26th, at a members' entertainment, and delighted the audience with their work. The quartet also sang at the men's meeting Sunday afternoon and were applauded time and again. Their singing caught the men and they all said, We must have the boys again.—John L. Dorst, Ass't Sec'y Central Y.M.C.A.
Philadelphia, Pa. The Otterbein Male Quartet supplied the music at our Sunday men's meeting in a most acceptable manner. From a musical standpoint, the rendition of their songs was splendid.—R. B. Adams, Sec'y Religious Work Dep't, Central Branch Y. M. C. A.
THE OTTERBEINS continue to maintain the splendid reputation earned in Lyceum and Chautauqua engagements, covering thirty-nine states, from coast to coast and from the Lakes to the Gulf. No better combination can be secured.
Gainesville, Ga. That Otterbein Male Quartet and Swiss Bell Ringers made good—if the universal verdict of those who heard them counts. They were favorites at the Chautauqua entertainments this week—from their first two appropriate, exquisitely rendered selections Sunday afternoon, at the sacred concert, till Wednesday night when they concluded their engagement. On the occasion of their last appearance they were recalled no less than eight times, and then the audience had not heard enough of the excellent work done by the Otterbeins.—
The Herald.
Indianola, Iowa. Friday evening's program was turned over to the Otterbein Male Quartet which gave the Chautauqua goers of Indianola a variety program of song, bell ringing and elocution. The most appreciated feature of their work, no doubt, was their quartet work. Indianola loves good music and when they get something of high quality, give their attention and only then. The Otterbeins seemed to have just the right consistency of popular and high class work to make their efforts much appreciated. For brilliancy and snap, perhaps these people equalled anything heard in Indianola for a long time.—
The Record.
Canon City, Col. The Otterbein Male Quartet and Bell Ringers, the third number of the Y. M. C. A. Star course, at the First Methodist Church last night, was in no wise a disappointment to its patrons, and the program was one of the very best ever given in Canon City. The church proper, Sunday school room and gallery were filled to their capacity by an expectant and delighted audience, making perhaps the largest assemblage in the history of the Star course of entertainments in this city. Those in charge of affairs made no mistake in bringing the Otterbein Male Quartet and Bell Ringers here. For doing so patrons owe the management a vote of thanks.—
Daily Record.
San Diego, Calif. The Otterbein Quartet and Bell Ringers delighted a good sized audience at the Y. W. C. A. last night. The Otterbeins are not only musical, but they are musically amusing, which few male quartets dare to be. Their bell ringing pleased the audience immensely. The impersonations of Mr. Engle were much enjoyed, being clever character bits. Taken as a whole, the Otterbeins gave one of the most all-around enjoyable evenings heard here for a long time.—
