Charlotte Chamberlin
APIECE of blank paper, a few colored crayons, a little music and in but a few minutes' time, wonderful colored pictures are created by Miss Chamberlin. No long waits, beautiful landscapes, sailboats on moonlit waters are followed by humorous cartoons as if by magic.
Wake Up! for that is what the birds sing in the early spring morning as they call to each other and to a sleeping world. Then the world awakes saying: I believe I hear a robin. And this is what the audience does when Miss Chamberlin begins to whistle and warble bird songs. But the only birds are the large bird pictures which form a part of the program. Bird warbling is pitched very high, for most bird songs are in the highest octaves of the piano. Most of Miss Chamberlin's whistling is in these high octaves and even in the octave beyond the keyboard, so that it is possible for her to reproduce the songs of many birds. An interesting part of this work is not only the literal reproduction of bird notes but their adaptation to music. Miss Chamberlin demonstrates how a bird might whistle a sonata, a southern melody or a Scotch air.
She is a well known, experienced, versatile entertainer. Like the birds she has traveled north, south, east and west, leaving a trail of melody behind her.
E. Josephine Fitzgerald
MISS FITZGERALD moves her audience from laughter to tears, with her humorous and dramatic interpretations. Negro, Irish, Italian and French-Canadian characters are impersonated with ease. Her program includes original selections.
She is an experienced artist with much training, having studied at The Cumnock School, in The Columbia College of Expression, Chicago, and The National Academy of Dramatic Art, New York. When opportunity permits, she does considerable teaching with a class sometimes numbering as high as one hundred pupils.
