EVELYN BARGELT
EVELYN BARGELT
ANNOUNCES A BRAND NEW
PROGRAM FOR THE COMING SEASON
Miss Bargelt is one of the best known entertainers in the Lyceum and Chautauqua world today. From East to West and in the South she has appeared before hundreds of Lyceum and Chautauqua audiences. Beginning to draw as a small child, she later pursued her art studies in the Art Institute, Chicago, and her studies in vocal interpretation in the Cumnock School of Oratory.
While in Chicago some three years ago, the Omega Upsilon Sorority, one of the most exclusive Sororities at Cumnock School, gave a dinner in Miss Bargelt's honor at which time she was duly initiated into that organization as an honorary member. Mrs. Isabel Garghill Beecher is also an honorary member of this organization.
AS A READER AND INTERPRETER
Miss Bargelt is not only a cartoonist with an ability to describe her drawings in an entertaining way but she ranks as a real artist in readings and interpretations apart from her lightning sketches. In fact one number of her program for the coming Lyceum season will be a twenty minute cutting from The Littlest Rebel and will be rendered without pictures.
At first Miss Bargelt appeared upon the Lyceum and Chautauqua platform as a member of a company of four. Later she was accompanied in the evening's program by a piano soloist. But the demand for several years has been insistent everywhere that she give an entire evening. Her subsequent success in carrying out this idea was immediate and pronounced.

A PROGRAM OF READINGS ILLUSTRATED BY LIGHTNING SKETCHES
With her crayons of different colors, Miss Bargelt produces before her audiences in connection with her readings, many landscapes which appear as beautiful as paintings while her humorous drawings are as funny as the comic sections of the Sunday papers. She carries her audiences from one scene to another in the story she is relating, at all times filled with enthusiastic interest.
Best of all, her stories and readings many times carry with them lessons which leave her hearers better for having attended. It is not unusual for many people in the audience to be melted to tears during one of these renditions. The drawings together with the words serve to make the rendition as a whole decidedly realistic.
SHOWERED WITH REQUESTS FOR PICTURES
At the close of an evening's entertainment members of the audience usually crowd about the easle upon which Miss Bargelt has been working and she is showered with requests for the pictures she has made. She gladly distributes them while they last and it is safe to say that her work adorns the walls of homes in nearly all the states where the Lyceum has become an institution.
Miss Bargelt has several complete evenings' programs.
Hundreds of enthusiastic press and committee comments have been received on her work in the past few years.
