Rita Smith Entertainer Extraordinary
In the old plantation home before the war
Guitarologues and Talk - Songs In Costume
One of our most successful entertainers. Reader, singer, musician and story teller.
From the South and is original in her Southern dialect and negro stories and songs.
This is one person entertaining you as well as four, she does the work of four and it is very unique. It is just what everybody wants.
Scenes of yesterday and Today
In her old-fashioned dress of the chatelaine of the old plantation home before the war. Miss Smith brings a breath of that chivalry, that courtliness and grace of the old South, and she can do this because she comes from an old Kentucky family. She tells us the stories that have been handed down to her and sings the songs her grandmother sang to the accompaniment of the instrument of romance—the guitar.
Then changing to modern dress she tells us stories, impersonations and gives us guitarologues, a novelty original with herself.
Miss Smith has earned her stardom thru' honest, hard work and service. She started six years ago as the youngest member of a small company and thru' the very force of her personality and experience has gained the place so eagerly sought by all young artists. She has been known as the most indefatigable worker and this combined with a natural aptitude has brought her to the front ranks.
Her program is new—scarcely a number has been heard before, yet it is all interesting. Miss Smith has been called time and time again to the Great Lakes and different camps by the soldiers and sailors, and the many return engagements to the various clubs in and around Chicago attest to her deserved popularity. At the time this circular is written. Miss Smith has been called by the Y. M. C. A. for service over-seas and when she appears before you she will have had over-seas experience which will give added interest to her entertainment.
