European and American Endorsements of Feicht's Oberammergau
Baltimore Sun
Mr. Feicht is a speaker who displays much earnestness. The audience closely followed the lecturer and attested its appreciation by frequent applause. Altogether the lecture gave a clear idea of what the great spectacle, which attracted so many to the little Bavarian town in 1900, is like.
Cincinnati Enquirer
The lecturer was heard and enjoyed by two large audiences at the Pike, and few if any lecturers have made the impression that he did on his audiences. The views are all that have been claimed for them and Mr. Feicht's instructive talk rounds out one of the best lectures that has been heard here in some time. It scored such a phenomenal hit that Mr. Feicht has been engaged to repeat the lecture next Sunday afternoon and evening.
Buffalo Courier
There is no one on the lecture platform at this time who is so well equipped to speak of this quaint Bavarian village and its people, as Mr. Feicht, who spent months living among them and studying their daily lives. He became thoroughly and intimately familiar with all the details of the most wonderful of all performances and is to-day the best equipped lecturer on the subject.
St. Louis Globe Democrat
The illustrated lecture on Oberammergau given last night at the Olympic Theater was an excellent portrayal. Mr. Feicht explained each view in a very interesting manner. The church scene at the close was especially beautiful. The chimes of the bells announcing the hour for the evening service and an invisible singer made it very realistic.
Columbus (O.) Dispatch
Oberammergau was brought to Columbus' doors by one who has lived for weeks among the Oberammergauers, eaten at their tables, conversed with them in the fields, talked with them in the hours of leisure, and found admission to their inner confidence. Mr. Feicht talks as one who had stepped upon the stage from an earthly heaven, from the side of Christus and Mary. No marvel then, the profound impression made by lecturer, lecture and lesson.
Indianapolis News
Mr. Feicht made himself a favorite from the start by his pleasing delivery and his seeming sympathy with the subject of his remarks. He used no notes to refresh his memory, but the words flowed from his lips in well rounded sentences that carried his auditors with him and made them feel the earnestness and sincerity of the man before them.
Dayton Daily Journal
It was one of the most brilliant audiences gathered in Dayton for some years. The theater was filled, every seat being occupied. Nothing approaching Mr. Feicht's fine views have ever been cast from a stereopticon, and that is the whole truth of it.
Toledo Bee
Mr. Feicht's story is certainly wonderful and he tells it well. Such an impression did it make that he will repeat it next Sunday evening.
Detroit Tribune
Oberammergau was the subject of Mr. Harry Ellsworth Feicht's lecture at the Detroit Opera House. His subject was handled with more attention to the details than any previous effort in this city. Fine views were projected on the screen. Both the lecture and the views were well received and this welcome was responsible for a return engagement next Sunday afternoon and evening.
Grand Rapids Herald
A large audience at the Grand last night enjoyed the interesting pictorial lecture on
Oberammergau
given by Harry Ellsworth Feicht. He is an interesting lecturer, and held the rapt attention of the audience throughout the evening.
Toledo Times
For an hour and a half Mr. Harry Ellsworth Feicht held the interest of a large audience at the Valentine Theater. Mr. Feicht does not make the mistake of many lecturers and rely upon his stereopticon to convey the pictures to the mind, but he has a carefully prepared lecture that would be interesting alone.
Nashville News
Those who saw Mr. Feicht's Oberammergau at the Tabernacle last night enjoyed one of the best entertainments given in Nashville this season.
Dayton Daily News
Mr. Harry Ellsworth Feicht gave his lecture on Oberammergau last evening. Although this was the fortieth presentation in Dayton this season, many were turned away, unable to gain admission.
Buffalo Express
Mr. Feicht has not only a most complete collection of views, but a great store of information about the play the players, their theater and their village.
Baltimore American
The views were most beautiful. Mr. Feicht showed pictures taken by himself of the actors and actresses in their homes and laboring in the fields, and then in contrast these same people garbed in the costume worn when in the play.
Cleveland Plain Dealer
Feicht's presentation drew a large audience, and the audience was well pleased with the entertainment. It proved so successful that it was decided to repeat it next Sunday afternoon and evening. The characters were extremely well brought out, the whole presentation being of unusual merit.
Franklin (O.) Chautauqua
Sunday night Feicht's beautiful views of Oberammergau had the distinction of drawing the largest evening attendance of the Chautauqua. The lecture, pictures, music and chimes left a decidedly pleasing impression, and Mr. Feicht enjoys the distinction of having given the finest illustrated lecture ever seen on these grounds.

MOST ESTEEMED FELLOW-CITIZENS:
Kindly allow me to address a few words to the one to whom we are all indebted for this most enjoyable entertainment. By presenting these views here before us to-night, you, Mr. Feicht, have given us the greatest pleasure, not alone in recalling many incidents connected with the Passion Play to our minds, but it is the first time that many of us have ever been given the opportunity of viewing the Passion Play, for as actors in the same, it has never been our privilege to be numbered among the audience. In the name of those present to-night, I thank you, Mr. Feicht, for your beautiful and true presentation of the Passion Play, as well as for the many great sacrifices you have made in order that we might enjoy the exalting pleasure. We thank you for your noble work in presenting this play and for gaining new friends for it beyond the ocean, and for working in behalf of the Holy Cause in your own country. We wish you the greatest success and pray that you may be as warm a champion of this cause among your own countrymen as we have had the pleasure of perceiving you to be here this evening. Again we thank you most heartily.
JOSEF MAYER,
Burgomaster (Mayor).Christus 1870-71-80-90, Prologus 1900.
