The
HADLEY CONCERT COMPANY
The Hadley Concert Company
E
VERY Committee has
the right
to expect at least three primal functions from a musical organization of established reputation (
a
) Thorough musicianship. (
b
) Knowledge of popular taste and ability to satisfy it without descent to levels uncountenanced by present high standards in music, and (
c
) Personality in ensemble—the ability to get good music
over
—without which art cannot succeed no matter how advanced or accomplished.
With these demonstrated truths in mind this management has recruited The Hadley Concet [sicConcert]Company from the ranks of the best experienced lyceum and Chautauqua artists. The musicianship of each member is unquestioned. Their ability to render good music in a manner calculated to bring out its beauty and make it understood of the masses, is really remarkable. Here is established a company that will make good everywhere and always.
M
ERIT wins! Committees generally are more than ever seeking companies whose individual and collective abilities are meritorious beyond question. The Hadley Concert Company is a group of artists each with a part to perform, none with abilities obscured.
The repertoire will include oratorio, opera, quartets with instrumental accompaniment, solo numbers both instrumental and vocal, ensemble numbers. Classical selections will be well adhered to, altho the program will include also many lighter and even humorous compositions.

Many of the patrons of the Chautauqua thought for a few minutes they were listening to a grand opera away from home last night, when the Grant Hadley Company made their initial appearance.
The well blended voices rendered only high class music, and a few of the popular songs with good effect.
Lovers of good music were not disappointed when they heard this group of talented artists, in fact those present were loath to let them leave giving them repeated applause, for which they came back and gracefully bowed their thanks of appreciation until the next performance.—
Richmond, Ind.
The Hadley Concert Company with which the Chautauqua was opened is one of the very best we ever had. The members were stars in their profession, and together gave our people the best musical treats they have had in years.—
Charleston, Ill.
The Grant Hadley Concert Company, which appeared at the Princess Theater yesterday and is billed for today and tonight, is one of the best companies which has appeared in Kirksville in many years. In fact, it probably is the best heard here since the Croxton quartet, including Frank Croxton and Reed Miller, sang in the lyceum course. The program is as unusual as it is pleasing and the reception the singers received is proof that fine music is enjoyed by any crowd once in a while.
The company rises to its best work in the superb
Sextet
from
Lucia
in which the voices show excellent volume and purity of tone.—
Kirksville, Mo.
