I
N presenting to the Lyceum public that eminent magician, musician, shadowgraphist and artist, Maro, we feel that any encomiums that we might utter would be out of place and unnecessary. Maro's fifteen years of experience before the public insures that he is too well and favorably known to require any extended praise on our part. We take pride in saying, however, that his entertainment has given such eminent satisfaction the past season that we have again secured his exclusive management for the coming year. The many personal letters that we have received from committees speak most enthusiastically of his work. It is seldom that such versatility is embodied in one personality, and an audience is left in doubt whether it is as a magician, musician, shadowgraphist or artist that he excels. Maro is above all an inventor of new and difficult feats of legerdemain, and this, combined with an easy and graceful stage presence and a bright and witty flow of language, makes a combination that is more than appreciated by his audiences. A glance at the specimen program will convince committees that for an entertainment that will draw and please, Maro stands pre-eminent. He will be accompanied by three trained attendants who will assist him in his wonderful entertainment, and take charge of over a ton of paraphernalia. It will doubtless not be amiss to state here that Maro carries with him the most magnificent and expensive accessories in the way of stage furniture that the world has ever seen. Maro's agreeable, fearless, yet painstaking methods, his scholarly study of his different arts, combined with unceasing practice, make his entertainment an enjoyment to the most cultured and refined audience.

ARO, the versatile, has paraphrased the old saying into
Jack of Many Trades, Master of All.
Not only is Maro a premier in Magic, but also in Music, Shadowgraphy and Art. As a magician of the kind known as prestidigitateur (or sleight of hand) Maro stands in the world of magic without a peer. Inanimate objects under Maro's skillful fingers appear to become endowed with mind.
Seeing is believing
loses every whit of its significance as a maxim to those who see the feats of Maro. Maro's range of tricks is astounding, and from beginning to end he holds his audience spellbound as he passes from one trick to another, with exactness and ease, spicing the graceful flow of novelty with easy and pleasing humor.

Wonderful Skull of Cagliostro
The close-shaved skull of Cagliostro tells the names of cards drawn by people in the audience, and after mixing them with others, they are thrown in the air and Maro pins those selected to a target by arrows from a blow gun. Daedalus was a famous Athenian artificer. He is said to have constructed wings with which he flew across the Ægean Sea, and though a long time dead, he is flying yet. At Maro's command he appears and disappears in many mystifying ways. Robbons of all colors and no end appear from nowhere and go shooting out over the heads of the spectators, to be gathered into the hands of the magician and transformed, in the twinkling of an eye, into a large Japanese umbrella. From the miniature Cabinet of Balsamo come the spiritualistic manifestations of bells ringing, tambourines and flutes playing. A watch is borrowed from someone in the audience only to be broken into pieces by the careless fall of an assistant who has been trusted to hold it. Maro relieves everybody, especially the assistant, by loading the pieced into a small cannon and shooting the watch all repaired into a mirror. In the
Magic of the Orient
Maro produces from a small cloth, cages full of singing birds, plates of edibles, glasses full of water, immense bouquets of flowers, etc., until the stage is filled, concluding with an immense cage filled with live doves. Maro's masterpiece,
The Flags of All Nations,
is the most startling production ever seen on the magic stage. In this feat he produces from nowhere multitudes of flags of all sizes and all nations, beginning with small flags a few inches square and growing in size and number until there are hundreds of beautiful silk flags, on sticks, covering the stage completely, and Old Glory, fifteen feet long and on an eight-foot staff, floats out over the heads of the charmed and bewildered audience. Maro's choice of confederates is another tribute to his bright intellect and shrewd knowledge of human nature. He produces from the clothes of an unsuspecting assistant hundreds of yards of paper ribbon, paper fish poles, live rabbits and quacking ducks, which fly out into the audience to vouch for their own genuineness.

ARO'S very latest sensation. A weird and wonderful exhibition of magic as performed by the East India fakirs. Maro's entire company assists in this act by rendering on genuine East India musical instruments weird music of the East. Maro appears during this trip to the Orient wearing an elaborate sorcerer's gown and impersonating, as nearly as possible, the manner and methods of ancient necromancers. He produces astonishingly bulky objects from seemingly nowhere, such as cages of various sizes filled with singing birds; six large platters full of cakes, fruits, roasts, etc.; glasses full of water; immense bouquets of flowers, and finally he produces a large cage, three feet high, holding several large white doves. chickens and ducks without number, until the stage is converted into a veritable barnyard.

Maro's Latest Musical Innovation The Saxophone Quartette
M
ARO, always on the alert for something new, has added to the musical part of his entertainment a quartette of wonder saxophones, for without music Maro's program would be incomplete. Three good musicians besides himself, as soprano saxophonist, produce such entrancing strains from these beautiful instruments that the music seems a part of Maro's magic—now wierd, deep, profound; then exuberant—now plaintively pianissimo, then furiously fortissimo. Besides the quartette, Maro has added a monster grand contra b-flat bass saxophone, on which he will render during the evening a bass solo. This is the largest reed instrument ever made and has a tone of profound depth and mellowness.

Musician

ARO has long been recognized as a leading artist on stringed instruments, and has lately been rousing his audiences to the wildest enthusiasm with his one-string gogglepeg (Maro's own invention) which in the hands of an ordinary player would create nothing but merriment. In the hands of Maro, however, it produces music that in its effect is electrifying—from the plaintive wail of a violin to apparently the full harmony of a large orchestra. One gets misty-eyed with longing when the harp with a thousand strings is spoken of, but after hearing Maro perform on the gogglepeg the matter of a few hundred strings has ceased to enrapture the anticipation. The music swells and fades away, leaving the audience spellbound with the magic of the instrument and wonder-struck at the skill of the player. You come to the conclusion that one string well strung in the hands of Maro is a bountiful sufficiency, for Maro is a thorough musician.

ARO has established a reputation as an artist in its highest sense. He has been a devoted student of art for years and has used his natural talent to wonderful advantage in his program. During his
art seance
he delights his audience with his rapid and bold strokes in the impressionistic school of art. The large pictures drawn by him, in a few seconds, in nature's own colors, on his mechanically revolving easel, are truly an exhibition of art and dexterity. His repertoire of scenes is unlimited. He produces rapidly and surely beautiful marines that are quickly changed into woodland scenes, then into terrible but fascinating volcanic eruptions, which in contrast to those of calm, still effect, produce thunders of applause—for Maro is a real artist.

ARO is probably the greatest master of the art of shadowgraphy now before the public. Shadowgraphy is the art of making life-like shadow silhouettes with the hands by projecting them on a white screen with the aid of a powerful thousand candle power light. Maro's shadowgraphy is clear and extremely amusing. Those wonderful hands of his he treats as though they were given him for a purpose and he had discovered the true intent. | Full Text | Figure MARO PRINCE of MAGIC Announcement I N presenting to the Lyceum public that eminent magician, musician, shadowgraphist and artist, Maro, we feel that any encomiums that we might utter would be out of place and unnecessary. Maro's fifteen years of experience before the public insures that he is too well and favorably known to require any extended praise on our part. We take pride in saying, however, that his entertainment has given such eminent satisfaction the past season that we have again secured his exclusive management for the coming year. The many personal letters that we have received from committees speak most enthusiastically of his work. It is seldom that such versatility is embodied in one personality, and an audience is left in doubt whether it is as a magician, musician, shadowgraphist or artist that he excels. Maro is above all an inventor of new and difficult feats of legerdemain, and this, combined with an easy and graceful stage presence and a bright and witty flow of language, makes a combination that is more than appreciated by his audiences. A glance at the specimen program will convince committees that for an entertainment that will draw and please, Maro stands pre-eminent. He will be accompanied by three trained attendants who will assist him in his wonderful entertainment, and take charge of over a ton of paraphernalia. It will doubtless not be amiss to state here that Maro carries with him the most magnificent and expensive accessories in the way of stage furniture that the world has ever seen. Maro's agreeable, fearless, yet painstaking methods, his scholarly study of his different arts, combined with unceasing practice, make his entertainment an enjoyment to the most cultured and refined audience. Maro, the versatile genius whose art, music and magic have charmed the multitudes, may justly lay claim to the title, Premier of Entertainers. He stands alone—but one Maro—has no rivals, no imitators. Maro as a Magician M ARO, the versatile, has paraphrased the old saying into Jack of Many Trades, Master of All. Not only is Maro a premier in Magic, but also in Music, Shadowgraphy and Art. As a magician of the kind known as prestidigitateur (or sleight of hand) Maro stands in the world of magic without a peer. Inanimate objects under Maro's skillful fingers appear to become endowed with mind. Seeing is believing loses every whit of its significance as a maxim to those who see the feats of Maro. Maro's range of tricks is astounding, and from beginning to end he holds his audience spellbound as he passes from one trick to another, with exactness and ease, spicing the graceful flow of novelty with easy and pleasing humor. Figure Wonderful Skull of Cagliostro The close-shaved skull of Cagliostro tells the names of cards drawn by people in the audience, and after mixing them with others, they are thrown in the air and Maro pins those selected to a target by arrows from a blow gun. Daedalus was a famous Athenian artificer. He is said to have constructed wings with which he flew across the Ægean Sea, and though a long time dead, he is flying yet. At Maro's command he appears and disappears in many mystifying ways. Robbons of all colors and no end appear from nowhere and go shooting out over the heads of the spectators, to be gathered into the hands of the magician and transformed, in the twinkling of an eye, into a large Japanese umbrella. From the miniature Cabinet of Balsamo come the spiritualistic manifestations of bells ringing, tambourines and flutes playing. A watch is borrowed from someone in the audience only to be broken into pieces by the careless fall of an assistant who has been trusted to hold it. Maro relieves everybody, especially the assistant, by loading the pieced into a small cannon and shooting the watch all repaired into a mirror. In the Magic of the Orient Maro produces from a small cloth, cages full of singing birds, plates of edibles, glasses full of water, immense bouquets of flowers, etc., until the stage is filled, concluding with an immense cage filled with live doves. Maro's masterpiece, The Flags of All Nations, is the most startling production ever seen on the magic stage. In this feat he produces from nowhere multitudes of flags of all sizes and all nations, beginning with small flags a few inches square and growing in size and number until there are hundreds of beautiful silk flags, on sticks, covering the stage completely, and Old Glory, fifteen feet long and on an eight-foot staff, floats out over the heads of the charmed and bewildered audience. Maro's choice of confederates is another tribute to his bright intellect and shrewd knowledge of human nature. He produces from the clothes of an unsuspecting assistant hundreds of yards of paper ribbon, paper fish poles, live rabbits and quacking ducks, which fly out into the audience to vouch for their own genuineness. Figure PHOSPHOROS, First Assistant Magic of the Orient M ARO'S very latest sensation. A weird and wonderful exhibition of magic as performed by the East India fakirs. Maro's entire company assists in this act by rendering on genuine East India musical instruments weird music of the East. Maro appears during this trip to the Orient wearing an elaborate sorcerer's gown and impersonating, as nearly as possible, the manner and methods of ancient necromancers. He produces astonishingly bulky objects from seemingly nowhere, such as cages of various sizes filled with singing birds; six large platters full of cakes, fruits, roasts, etc.; glasses full of water; immense bouquets of flowers, and finally he produces a large cage, three feet high, holding several large white doves. Concluding with the very latest mystery, The Oriental Wonder Bowl , from which he produces an additional array of rabbits, pigeons, chickens and ducks without number, until the stage is converted into a veritable barnyard. Figure Maro as an East Indian Fakir Figure Maro's Latest Musical Innovation The Saxophone Quartette M ARO, always on the alert for something new, has added to the musical part of his entertainment a quartette of wonder saxophones, for without music Maro's program would be incomplete. Three good musicians besides himself, as soprano saxophonist, produce such entrancing strains from these beautiful instruments that the music seems a part of Maro's magic—now wierd, deep, profound; then exuberant—now plaintively pianissimo, then furiously fortissimo. Besides the quartette, Maro has added a monster grand contra b-flat bass saxophone, on which he will render during the evening a bass solo. The music swells and fades away, leaving the audience spellbound with the magic of the instrument and wonder-struck at the skill of the player.
