ROYAL MALA QUARTETTE
Royal Male Quartette
JAMES BLAINE NICHOLAS, First Tenor; ERNEST HENRI BOYD, Second Tenor and Reader; FREDERICK VANCE EVANS, First Bass and Manager; CLIFTON LE ROY BELDING, Second Bass.
WE OFFER no apology for adding to our long list of music companies the Royal Male Quartette. Since the Meistersingers toured the North two years ago a con¬stant demand for return dates has poured in on us, and we felt that no other organization we could offer would take the place of a male quartette along the same lines as the Meistersingers. The Royal Male Quartette is not composed of new, untried people all are trained voices musically and all have had experience in concert and glee club work. The four voices are picked for their blending quality and their program is a bright, spicy, happily arranged one, suitable to old and young, critical and uncritical. We present herewith a specimen of one of their popular programs:
1. Vocal Overture -.....Malek
Royal Male Quartette
2. Duet—The Sailor's Dream - Bendel
Messrs. Nicholas and Evans
3. Reading — Afterglow - IVilfyns
Mr. Boyd
4. Quartette ------- Selected
Royal Male Quartette
5. Solo —Kings of the Road - Beran
Mr. Belding
6. Waltz Song ------- Aylward
Royal Male Quartette
7. Solo — Song of the Desert ----- Kellie
Mr. Boyd
8. Bill of Fare - - - - - - Witbeck
Royal Male Quartette
9. Solo — Gondoliers Song - De Koven
Mr. Nicholas
10. Reading The Truth of It.....Ward
Mr. Boyd I 1. Solo — For All Eternity - Mascberoni
Mr. Evans
12. Quartette Adios, Farewell, Goodnight - - Parser
Royal Male Quartette
In addition to their solo and quartette work they offer readings and sketches, though no attempt has been made to secure variety by weakening the quartette work. In a male quartette, quartettes are the main thing wanted and in the Royal Male Quartette we have neither sacrinced their quality nor cut down their number for the sake of adding variety numbers less pleasing.
Midland Lyceum Bureau.
COMMENDATORY REMARKS
JAMES BLAINE NICHOLAS-lnsecur¬ing James Blaine Nicholas for three seasons as first tenor of the Royal Male Quartette, the bureau is pleased to present a tenor of splendid quality and worth, who is sure to please. Mr. Nich¬olas has, by concert and church career, endeared himself to countless audiences, and his lovely lyric tenor voice, full of sympathy and appealing quality, places him as one of the leading tenors of the country. He has a repertoire of the bright¬est, sparkling songs, which he sings with a free abandon that audiences appreciate.
The singing of Mr. Nicholas shows him to have a sweet tenor voice of good quality and range. His training reflects itself well in the good work he did at the concert last week.— Williamsburg Journal- Tribune.
Mr. Blaine Nicholas, who came first into notice last fall through singing the Admiral in "The First Lieutenant," at Fosters Opera House, sang exquisitely. Des Moines Daily Capital.

ERNEST HENRI BOYD -The art of read¬ing naturally has seemed to be lost by many ap¬pearing in public to-day. Its the overdoing rather than the suppressed style so often criticized. Mr. Boyd could be termed the natural reader, so easily does he 'persuade his audience to follow him. His gift of being himself has been his greatest asset. Besides, he has a tenor voice of power and sweetness. He uses both talents with a rare discrimination, having a keen insight into the likes of his listeners and choosing for his numbers attractive selections. The press has always been liberal toward him in bestowing its compliments.
Mr. Ernest Boyd fulfilled expectations in every respect. He possesses a most pleasing baritone of fine tone quality and has splendid control.— Creston Advertiser.
The work of Mr. Boyd shows careful train¬ing and an unusually bright personality. I have thoroughly enjoyed his solos and appreciate the hard work done by Mr. Boyd in fitting himself for it.— Superintendent Greenleaf, Kansas City

COMMENDATORY REMARKS
FREDERICK VANCE EVANS
Mr. Evans, so often alluded to as the com¬ing basso-cantante of the middle west, while still a young man, has to his credit the suc¬cess of having achieved high honors through his appearance in concert, opera and oratorio.
Mr. Frederick Evans has sung many times to Indianola audiences and his rich baritone voice has been greatly admired in this vicin¬ity. His attractive personal presence, his first-class musical ability and his feeling inter¬pretation of his theme make him popular with his audience in the highest sense of that term. I have heard him many times and always with delight. Charles Eldred Shel-ton, President Simpson College.
Mr. Frederick Vance Evans sung before the State Teachers' Association last evening. He sang in wonderful style and magnificent voice "Vision Fugitive," by Massenet, and "Fear Not Ye," by Buck, in a faultless and finished manner. He is a favorite here. Register and Leader, Des Moines.

First Bass—Manager
CLIFTON LE ROY BELDING-Who
doesn't love the low, deep tones of the second bass, and how few really seem to satisfy the demand. How seldom the audiences really appreciate the value of such a singer, for somehow the human voice seems gradually to tend toward centralization. The deep alto and the deep bass are getting scarce. There¬fore the Royals take pleasure in introducing Clifton Le Roy Belding, second bass, as a "low down singer." Mr. Belding is no nov¬ice in the professional world, and will please by his pleasant mannerisms and beautiful voice.
We are proud of the work of Mr. Belding, a Van Wert boy. His voice is a beautiful, heavy bass, full and rich, and the work he does is highly commendable. Van Wert, (la.) Record.
Mr. Clifton Belding merited great praise for his rich, deep second bass. Mr. Belding will be heard from in big things some day. Des Moines (la.) Daily Capital.
