Henry Artist Illusionist Entertainer
Introducing Henry
Artist Illusionist Entertainer
IN presenting an evening's entertainment to the Lyceum world we that we are in no way losing sight of the high ideals of that institution in offering one number on our best courses made up 1argely of "MAGIC."
We feel assured that no one thing so powerfully protects from the superstition of false religious teachers as Magic, strates beyond doubt that what many attribute, ignorantly to spirits, evil or benevolent, is really traceable to the clever manipulation of one who is an artist in that line.
In a word the Modern Lyceum Magician is the greatest bulwark against superstition in our life today.
Even where learned educators are inclined to be credulous of the work of shrewd imposters, when the same results pre¬cisely are produced by Magicians, frankly using no Occult means, it simply means that any one attempting to gain ascendancy over the minds of the public by fraud are laughed out of court. Dr. Wilson, Editor of the Sphinx says concerning magic _A
It is an art that sometimes amuses, of times instructs and always entertains."
We have used many magicians and have seen many more. We think we are not beyond the facts however when we say that HENRY and his assistants are the absolute best we know of in America.
His mysteries are spectacular, astounding, brilliant.
To the best of our knowledge no entertainment of similar pre¬tention has ever been presented to any but the very largest courses
in the Lyceum. No matter whether the course is
held in a church or school or public hall HENRY
will not offend. He is a gentleman always and everywhere, and his brilliant and bewilder¬ing mysteries and illu¬sions are always solidly based on scientific principles. He will help and not hinder any church or commit¬tee promoting a high grade course.
Mr. Henry s time is exclusively controlled for the next few years in the United States and Canada by the
ORIENTAL MYSTERIES
Li Chung Soy
Chinese Magic Hindoo Necromancy Egyptian Conjury
MR. HENRY is an
earnest and thorough student of the Orient, he has been asso¬ciated, at different times, with some of the greatest Hindoo Fakirs and Chi¬nese Necromancers that the world has ever seen. He has been preparing for a number of years to present this part of his enter-tainment, which shows the much talked of problems in magic from those far off lands of mystery.
During this part of the evening Mr. Henry impersonates the character of LI CHUNG SOY, the old time Royal Court Magician of China.
All of the curtains, costumes and draperies used in this portion of the entertainment were imported by HENRY at a great expense from China and India especially for this production. He makes three complete changes of georgeous and elaborate Chinese wardrobe and the robe worn by Mrs. Henry during this number is especially beautiful and is an extremely rare garment to be found in the possession of any one in this country as it was designed and worn at the Royal Court in China before coming into Mrs. Henry's hands.
Mr. Sheldon S. Henry certainly has a won¬derful ability as an entertainer and Magician, I cordially recommend him Respectfully.
C. Q. HILDEBRANT.
Ohio, Secretary of State.
We as a body, do heartily en¬dorse Mr. S. S. Henry, one of the best entertainers in his line of work that it has ever been our privilege to see. Very truly yours.
HIAWATHA ENCAMPMENT
No. 70. I. O. O. F.
Per S. P. BUCKLEY, Scribe.
Mr. S. S. Henry, Artist and Illu¬sionist, gave the people a distinct novelty in the way of entertain¬ment, he is a past master in Hin¬doo and Chinese Mystery and his problems in Necromancy certainly kept his audience guessing! His Sand Pictures and Lightening. Sketches were something: new to the folks here and were surely highly appre¬ciated, his pictures were exceedingly beau¬tiful and were made in a novel and unusual manner. CHRINEY SUN, Chrisney, Ind
Mr S. S. Henry's lecture to the High School pupils on Art was very interesting and was highly enter¬taining owing to the number of clev¬er and beautifully executed crayon pictures and cartoons with which he illustrated his talk.
DALE REPORTER, Dale, Ind.
MR. HENRY'S apparatus and paraphernalia represent years of work and the expenditure of thousands of dollars to assemble and put into its present high standard of perfection. * It represents the absolute best that the entire world has to offer in the line of mysteries. Mr. W. D. Leroy, of 103 Court St., Boston, Mass., who is considered to be one of the largest and most reliable importers and dealers in magical apparatus in America says in a letter to Mr. Henry.
"'I congratulate you on owning such an outfit, with the foreign illusions delivered to you, gives you the most complete elabo¬rate, and up-to-date outfit carried by any Lyceum performer in America today.
I have as per instructions spared no expense to secure you the very best in every respect, I believe you now have the finest entertainment of its kind on the road." I am, Fraternally Yours, W. D. LEROY.
CARTOONIST
HENRY the ARTIST
World's Greatest Art Novelty Sand Pictures
WERE it not for the wonderful success of Mr. Henry as an illusionist he would shine as a cartoonist.
Many a cartoonist falls short of the splen¬did attainments of Mr. Henry though Henry regards the cartoons as secondary to his ma-gicial entertainment.
Mr. Henry is the most successful artist in SAND PAINTING in the world today. Standing some distance from his easel he thrown handfuls of colored sand upon it. Mr. Henry standing behind the growing picture, must of course build the painting ur side down Unlike other artists who draw the picture right side up and then turn the picture so the audience can see it. This and the wonderful rapidity of the work make the SAND PICTURES a wonderful novelty. The most beautiful effects are pro¬duced, and in an average time of two minutes per picture.
In this and in all else undertaken by Mr. Henry long and careful years of preparation added to a notable talent make it certain that in
this portion of his work 1 e is not surpassed on the platform today.
All in all the entertain¬ment is so full of novelties, brilliant innovations and surprises that not only is the evening a wonderful one, but on any course will prove the most talked of event of the year.
During this portion of the entertainment Mrs. Henry offers a number of beautiful selections upon the piano which HENRY illustrates with large impressionistic pictures, drawing each appropriate picture up¬side down during the time required to play the selection.
He who misses this number has done him¬self an injustice indeed.
His crayons are sometimes morous, always and always light in rapidity.
His landscapes and seascapes frod tance the audience them appear works of art.
