HON. J. FRANK HANLY
FOR FOUR YEARS GOVERNOR OF INDIANA
HIS MEASUREMENTS ARE TITANIC. His proportions
are in harmony with /his six feet of heroic manhood. When disengaged he looks the trained athlete at rest. Upon the platform when speaking he seems a stalwart giant fit for any fray. He looks straight and steadily into the eyes of his auditors as if searching for their higher natures. He is never dramatic, but his intensity is overwhelming. His gestures are few, always unstudied and tremendously effective. His voice is strong full and clear, with a tone of unaffected and deep human sympathy. His manner is! winsome, though dominated by an imperious spirit characteristic of a great nature wholly enlisted and engaged in a great cause. He is fervent and forceful in speech, with the culture and polish of an orator, the logic of a skilled advocate and enthusiasm of a reformer.
His superb intellectual endowments, ripe scholarship and wide range of information, together with his indomitable will, make peculiarly potent for good all of his public attitudes, utterances and activities.
That he has "come to the kingdom for such a time as this" must be manifest to all who have, in the light of his public record, duly considered the eloquent utterances of this former chief magistrate of a great American Commonwealth.
The Searchlight, Los Angeles, CaL
The foregoing estimate of Governor Hanly and his work by "The Searchlight M is a fair and accurate measure of the man. I have introduced no lecturer in the Eastern States who has been more successful in reaching the affections and the conscience of the public. He and his lectures are inspirations always.
PITT F. PARKER,
Manager.

-The lecture was one of the greatest ever given in this city."
Leader, Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
" He is big and sturdy, like an oak tree, and puts lots of vim in his arguments."
Times, Scranton, Pa,
"Governor Hanly is a remarkable orator, brilliant and able. Nobody like him has been heard here since the days of John B. Gough."
AI lent own, Pa
" The lecture was said to be one of the best ever heard by an Orange audience. He kept his large audience spell-bound for over two hours."
Republican, Springfield, Mass.
"His eloquence had a noticeable effect on the thousand men and women who heard him. He had his hearers alternating between tears and tumultuous applause, and when he finished the gathering rose and cheered him to the echo."
Gazette, Worcester, Mass.
r His brilliant oratory held the large audience enthralled nearly two hours. His tribute to Lincoln was a masterly triumph of eloquence."
Courier-Citizen, Lowell, Mass.
" Hanly made a great impression. He is an eloquent, earnest speaker, who gets right at the heart of the question on the start and never flags. He was applauded repeatedly and received one of the greatest receptions ever given in Mechanics Hall."
Daily Telegram, Worcester, Mass.
" Governor Hanly last night stirred to boundless enthusiasm an audience numbering thirty-fivf hundred, in the Academy of Music. Expressive in every word and gesture, his voice thrilling with the intensity of his emotion, resounded throughout the big auditorium. He fairly carried his audience with him in his oratorical flights, evoking peal after peal of thunderous applause. At times he was compelled to pause several minutes while the tumult ran its length and the audience voiced its approval."
Record, Philadelphia, Pa.
In years to come, recollection of the Forty-seventh Banquet of the Central Illinois Congregations Uub will be dominated by remembrance of the fiery, soul-stirring eloquence of Ex-Governor Hanly, of Indiana. Nothing to equal it has been heard in Peoria since our matchless Ingersoll. He played upon the heart-strings of his audience at will, now inciting to action in a fiery denunciation and then bringing tears and sobs."
Evening Journal, Peoria. Ill
GOVERNOR HANLY has the reputation, which he justly deserves, of being one of
the greatest orators in the country to-day — a reputation which was sustained in the address last evening. While it was a wonderful address, a masterpiece, yet it was
so plain that the children who were present could grasp the argument and understand it. The
audience filled the Opera House."
Morning Press, Bloomsburg, Pa.

"A powerful address. A deep impression. Governor Hanly has the bearing and the voice of an orator, and his sincerity is so apparent that his words carry wonderful conviction. His language is superb, his delivery is easy, his voice is clear and distinct, and his speech gives one the impression of a man who is thoroughly in earnest in a good cause. At one point in his lecture Governor Hanly paid a remarkable tribute to Abraham Lincoln. It was a masterly delivery, and the audience listened breathlessly to catch every word."
