SIG. FRANCESCO CORTESE, HARPIST
AMERICAN SAXOPHONE QUARTETTE WITH SOUSA'S BAND
The "American Saxophone Quartette," organized in the early part of December, 1901, has perhaps travelled more miles than any other organization of its kind in the country, and for the short time that they have been in existence they certainly have made a great record for themselves. Having toured Europe and America with Sousa's Band, playing 234 concerts in over 125 principal cities in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Mr. WM. F. SCHENSLEY, Manager of the American Saxophone Quartette, has done much towards elevating and placing the saxophone to the high standard of excellence it enjoys today. In so doing, he has demonstrated to the public through the American Saxophone Quartette what actually can be done on this beautiful, mellow, sweet-toned instrument-.
The Saxophone often has taken the place of the cello in the orchestra. And in military bands it is utterly indis-pensible, as no other instrument can produce that rich tone colour which blends so nicely with the harmony of the other instruments and gives that grand melodious effect resembling the pipe organ.

Miss Emma B. Michael is endowed with all the qualifications which contribute to success before the public. First of all she has a captivating stage ap¬pearance in addition to a rarely sweet and sympathetic voice, well cultured and with entranc-ingly rich quality throughout. Her success in church and Ora¬torio work is well known and in concert she evinces fine dra¬matic instinct and is a capable and concientious artiste.
The Saxophone Quartett from Sousa's Band played for us on several occasions during the World's Fair. I say without hesitation that it was the best musical attraction.that we had during the World's Fair year. Very truly yours, E. C BROWNELL, Sec.
Central Branch, St. Louis, Y. M. C. A.
The American Saxophone Quar¬tett of Sousa's Bnnd has furnished the music at three of our great theatre meetings for men. Their music was not only entirely satisfac¬tory to the committee in charge, but greatly appreciated by all the men present.

MISS EMMA B. MICHAEL, SOPRANO
AMERICAN SAXOPHONE QUARTETTE AND HARPIST
Willow Grove Park, Philadelphia, Pa. Mr. WM. F. SCHENSLEY, Manager American Saxophone Quartette,
Although you have not solicited an endorsement of your performance at Willow Grove Park yesterday, I feel it my duty as Superintendent of the Park, to say that the program as carried out by the American Saxophone Quartette and Harpist, at both yesterday afternoon and last evening concerts, were both musical treats of the season. Your selec¬tions were of the best, and by the tumultuous applause following each number, certainly must have demonstrated to you and your associates that your work was appreciated.
I might say in this connection that you had the honor of playing to two of the largest audiences that has ever assem¬bled at Willow Grove Park. The audience last evenipg, within hearing of your quartette, numbered close to 25000 hearers. Thanking you one and all for your efforts in behalf of Willow Grove Park, I am,
Very truly yours, C P. WEAVER, Superintendent.
