- Wife of a Former Texas Governor ^
Mrs. Oveta Gulp Hobby, director of the women's army| auxiliary corps, will arrive late today to pay her first visit to Fort Des Moines, the site of the WAAC officer candidate school.
Mrs. Hobby was sworn in May .16 as director (a rank equivalent to a major), and has been at Washington, D. C., since that time organizing' training for 25, 000 members of the WAAC.
Her salary is $3,000 a year plus certain * other allowances. Widely Known. Although new in the national public eye, this 37-year-old wife and mother of two children is widely known in Texas where she has been a newspaper executive, attorney and prominent leader in legislative and civic affairs.
Mrs. Hobby, who took her army oath with "all the devotion, all the strength and whatever ability I possess," was a dollar-a-year director of the women'
