THE WAAC'I JOB.
The women's army auxiliary corps was established May, 15, 1942, to train women for serv* ice with the army so that they might replace—and release for combat service—men perfor?n~ ing non-combatant duties. Now, nearly a, year later, there are 58400 WAACs, approximately half ¦ of them in field jobs. Of those in field jobs, more than 15,000 are stationed at 83 posts in 40 states and in Africa. A Register reporter visited one of these posts where WAACs are taking ov&r the jobs formerly held by men. This story tells what they are doing at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri.
