Fort Des Moines WAC Frolic on Second Anniversary
A great number of the several thousand WACs who took part in the Saturday afternoon are shown as they were dismissed from ranks before 96 areas of play in which the exercises were held.

So morlng ¦ spectacle, was the victory that HaJ. Gen. C. H. Dan-lelion. commanding general of the Seventh Service Command. Omaha. Neb. who occupied a vantags point of honor, was prompted exclaim:
¦Thla ha* been an amazing day and thia (the race) U the crowning event."
The victorious runnera were WACi of Company IS. The field of action was the parade ground at Port Dm aloincs. The participant* In the race were representatives of four WAC compa-nlea, who had won the right In preliminaries held earlier.
WAC Mayday. ¦ It wa* the climax to a "play-day" for WAC*. held in ccteb.n. • tlon of the second anniversary «f the formation of the woroen'i army corps, which fall* today.
The ten runner* of Company 18 had to do more than run to win.

What they had to do would never be aanclioned by the amateur athletic union. It can hardly be described. Better it be explained. Each runner waa required to do the following:
Run 30 paces carrying a barrack* bag. While running thia 30 pace, empiy the barracks bag and put on its content*. The bag* cor tamed a raincoat, a wool hal ... id glove* Yes. rain coat. hat. overshoes and glove*. On reaching the SO par* mark, take off Ihe garment*, replace them In the has; and sprint the thirty pace* bark to the team po*t.
