The thrilling adventure of Shylock Combs, the bank inspector. "Ah ha, something must be wrong with the bank," exclaimed Shylock Combs, the eminent bank inspector, as a two hundred pound building block fell upon him, arousing him from a peaceful slumber. "One of the surprising things about my profession is the peculiar ability which we have of thus arriving at a correct conclusion with so infinitesimal a clew to work on." "You will notice," continued Shylock, as he carefully inspected each minute detail of the ruin under his glass, "that the bank is gone, together with all the available cash and the president and the cashier. And strangest of all, I conclude from the direction of the footprints that the culprits have gone to Canada. You will note how each detail bears out my original conclusion that something was wrong with the bank." Hvaing thus completed his investigation and notified the police that all they had to do was to catch the absconding president and cashier, Shylock Combs,
