Davenport and Scott county will contribute a carload of flour to the Friendship Train, according to plans made at a meeting of representative of civic, religious and farm groups Friday under the chairmanship of J. D. Underwood, Scott county extension director.
The carload of flour, to be secured by donations from residents of the county, will be sent to Clinton Nov. 13 to be attached to the Friendship Train, which is being made up as it crosses the United States.
The train, which is being sponsored by Drew Pearson, Washington columnist, will leave the west coast Nov. 7. The food will be sent to Europe to aid starving people.
In Scott county, an appeal is being made to individual citizens .hroughtmt the city and rural areas to donate the price of a sack of flour to the committee, either by mail, or through any of ;he banks, churches or other organizations.
Church Collections Special collections will be taken up in all churches Sunday, Nov. t), according to the plans made Friday, and announcements of this collection will be made this Sunday in all of the churches of the county.
While the goal has been set as a sack of flour from every person desiring to contribute, the committee emphasized that any contribution, large or small, will be welcome.

Because of the short time in which contributions must be secured, individuals are urged to fill out the accompanying coupon and mail to the Friendship Train committee in care of The Daily Times as soon as possible.
A carload will require from 1,200 to 1,600 sacks of flour.
