Lt. Mauerhan Of WAAC Is Speaker At Sidney Meeting
Sidney—Lieutenant Jane Mauerhan of the Woman's Auxiliary Army Corps addressed the guest day meeting qf the Presbyterian Women's Organization at the PresbyteriarJ criirch in Sidney Friday afternoop. Because of the general interest in the speaker and her message the meeting was opened to the public.
Lt. Mauerhan was introduced j by General C. H. Grahl, head j of Iowa's Selective Service, who ! commended highly the work of j the WAAC. j
The WAAC was organized for : one purpose and one purpose on- j ly, Lt. Mauerhan told her listen- , ers and that was to release physi- ,' cally fit men for combat duty.
She explained the necessity for a uniform and military training for the women and told of the work they are doing and being trained to do. While stressing the need for volunteers, Lt. Mauerhan said "we are fighting to keep our homes and that the government is not asking w
