Officer Candidate Yette Garden of the WAAC knows. She was there, as secretary to the author of the famous "who dunnit" stories through a 10-year stretch.
Authors, Miss Garden contends, seek no flaming sunsets for inspiration when they're perfecting a plot. They'd rather stare at a blank wall, or chew a pipestem as Corey Ford did as he contemplated the activities of his characters. Miss Garden also aided Ford with his recent works.
