Woman Officer Describes Training Program Of WAACs At Meeting Here
Kaihryn McWilliams Is Guest Speaker
At the Woman's Club meeting at library Monday* Third Officer Kathryn McWilliams of Fort Des Moines substituted! for Third Officer Myers, who had received orders last Saturday to leave immediately for new duty.
Miss McWilliams is with the Public Relations repartment and as such she was well fitted to bring to the club something of the purpose of the WAAC and its program of training.
We serve with the army, not in it, said Officer McWilliams* and hence cannot bear army titles as do nurses. She explained that the title First Officer corresponds to Captain; Second Officer, to 1st Lieulenant; and Third Officer to 2nd Lieutenant. Enrolled personnel are auxiliaries. The speaker discussed "Why the Uniform," saying that quantity buying lessens cost, protects quality, gives uniform appearance with utmost comfort and service.
