This vivacious young dancer, whose strip-tease charmed a Thanksgiving Day audience at a Des Moines, la., theater, was disclosed to be a WAAC, absent without leave. She was billed as "Amber d'Georg." Military police picked her up after the matinee.
"She's just a girl who had no understanding of her responsibilities," said her commanding officer.
Lost WAAC Found Doing Strip-Tease
Des Moines, la.—(U.R)—She was billed as "Amber D'Georg, the exotic glamour girl from Hollywood," on the signs .advertising her striptease act. at a Des Moines burlesque theater—but she was only a rookie WAAC, gone A. W. O. L.
For five nights she went through her routine, which included a "Samoan Love Dance," before she was recognized and taken back to Fort Des Moines.
Col. J. A. Hoag, commanding officer at the WAAC training center, identified the dancer as Kathryn Gregory, 22, Fort Worth, Tex., who joined the women's army as an auxiliary Nov. 3.
