Clarion Gives Car Of GrainMn 1892
-
Iowans we^^tlfrijed and very proud of the war In which the state "came througli" with 22 carloads of foodstuSs which were added to the Friendship Train as it traveled across the state Thursday, bound for the east coast.-
But this was not the first time | Iowa has responded so generously to a jplea for help, according to H. P. Fagan of Des Moines. He says the incident had a duplicate in 1892, and at that time a carload of grain left Clarion with a giant banner on each side announcing to the world, "Wright County's Donation to Russian Relief." "My father and Charley Birdsall, uncle of M. F. Birdsall| were the Wall Lake township committee,". Mr. Fagan concludes.
