Young Shuns Spinach At WAC Mess
By George Shane.
Robert Young, the moving picture actor, 'was the popular guest of the women's army corps Friday at their mess where he is dining while on a three-day visit here.
He was especially popular with those who don't eat their spinach —one of the vegetables on the menu.
Young didn't eat his spinach
j either, and he sympathized with
several who also failed to do so.
Although he explained that he has no quarrel with people who do like spinach, he apologetically passed it by when it was served to him.
"Personally,** he said, "I feel that the spinach that is most nourishing is the kind that has sand in it. It suppose there are minerals in sand and minerals are good for you.
"My mother used to make me
j eat my spinach but I have a
friend who is a dietitian and she
says that spinach hasn't any more
nourishment in it than grass."
