OH? DEPARTMENT: This one about a rookie on K.P. at the First WAC training- center, Fort Des Moines, is being told. She was objecting strenuously to carrying out orders. The mess officer decided to take her in hand. "Don't you know you're supposed to obey orders in the army?" the mess officer inquired. "But I'm not in the army, ma'am," the rookie answered. "But you took the oath administered by Col. Oveta Hobby," the officer reminded. "Of course you're in the army," "I am not, col. oveta hobby, ma'am," the girl insisted. "I didn't take off my hat or raise my hand like the others." "Then why did you go out there, if you didn't want to enlist in the army?" the mess officer asked, puzzled. The rookie looked at her and grinned. "Well, you see, ma'am," she announced, "I ALWAYS HAD WANTED TO SEE CDLONEL HOBBY IN PERSON, AND THAT WAS MY ONLY CHANCE I"
