TUNING UP FOR PARADE----Master Sergt. Marybelle Nissly (right), of Lancaster,
Pa., director of the WAC band from Ft. Des Moines, conducted an impromptu practice session at the high school football field on Brady street Friday morning, as the WAC and the Davenport high school bands drilled for the parade and the performance during the football game Friday night. Taking part in the practice session were (left to right) Louise Johnston, 2618 Jefferson street, member of the high school band; Pvt. Thaylia Watschke, Rudd, la., and S.ergt. Davenporters turned out Friday afternoon to see WACs march by.
They saw a smart, well-trained 45-piece band and a 50-member marching unit from the WAC training station at Des Moines step briskly along
