WAVES TO OPEN PERMANENT OFFICE IN DAVENPORT
Davenport has been selected as one of four permanent recruiting stations for the WAVES to be set up in the middle west, according to an official navy announcement. Officers on the first floor of the Hotel Blackhawk will open Monday at 10 a. m. under the direction of William Truax, petty officer, first class. Other permanent offices are being established in Peoria, 111., South Bend, and Ft. Wayne, Ind.
Assisting with recruiting at the Davenport station will be Eleanor Hansen, yoeman, second class, and Madeline Lemeke, specialist, (R), third class.
The office will be open daily except Sundays from 10 a. m. to 9 p. m. Altho the Davenport territory for recruiting includes only the Tri-city area, enlistments will be accepted from applicants residing outside the immediate locality.
