Yy of their dens and finding life a great deal more enjoyable since Pvt. Harriet Hanson, wholefwDes Moines when she was i, joined the WAC ana rfrr*ed at Fort Des Moines. * mason is that Pvt. Hanson is or was the champion woman cougar hunter of that state. Once : a 300-pound cat had just killed an elk when Private Hanson came tramping j through the woods lugging her rifle. The cat looked at Harriet and drooled, As he leaped for her, she knocked his brains around with a dead-on shot. That rifle of hers has brought her some $3,000 worth of pelts, including something like 75 of those formerly worn by as many big cats. She would like, she says, an opportunity to add
a few Jap pelts to her trophies.
