recent Friendship train which came through Iowa and picked up 22 carloads of food for Italy and France, was not the first to majfe the trelt across the statei according to th6 Iowa Historical society. :j

The Society is authority for the statement that back in 1892 another such train—although not known by that name—picked up a total of 22 5 carloads of corn exceeding 500 bushels each, from Iowa. The corn was being sent to help the then starving Russians.
