Training to Women
Who Can Qualify,
Two attractive Navy WAVES, Ensign Ethel Vessey and Sp (R) 2-c Ramona Coluoci, wlU be In Cresco next week to man a WAVE : Information Center at the chambers hotel. August 16 and n.
Cresco is excellently represented in the WAVES according to these WAVES, but more such women are urgently needed to help the Navy complete Its job. WAVES are now serving in over 500 shore establishment? in the continental United States, and have already released enough*men to man 10 modern battleships. 10 large air-' craft carriers, 28 cruisers and 50 destroyers.
More Men Needed
While the Navy needs many more women to release men now at shore stations, it ofTers many advantages to women who wish to serve their country Ensign Vessey said. For example, the minimum WAVE pay is equivalent to, more than $142.50 per month in civil life. WAVES receive vaiuabl< training which will be worth much when they return to civil life. They serve in the same ratings as are given Navy men with the same advantages and benefits, including those provided for service people In the recently enacted "G. I." bill.
