O O O PVT. SCHMAI..
AFTER DOING gas-welding on LSM (that's landing ship, medium) barges for the Pullman Co. at Chicago, her home (17 months of outdoor work), instructing CAP cadets at Harvey, 111., during what little time she had to spare and giving blood to the Red Cross eight times, it followed that Miss Schmal would top things off by joining her country's forces. That she did, that she did. When the CAP joined the WAC recruiting program, Esther was sure she'd get at least one recruit. It was herself. She interviewed herself, found herself eager to enlist, signed up.
