navy nurse in Cedar Falls Is Promoted Here
A Navy nurse in Cedar Falls this week received recognition tor her services'" when Margie Wolcott was promoted from lieutenant (junior grade) to lieutenant (senior grade). Liftut. Wolcott is head nurse in the medical dispensary at the "Naval training school on the campus of Iowa State Teachers college. In December She came to Cedar Falls ia December of last year from Mare Island, Cat., where she was in charge of the operating room. Miss Wolcott entered the Navy Nurse corps Dec. 2, 1941, and served first at the V. S. Naval Hospital at San Diego, Cal. iFrom there she was sent to the Oakland Naval Hospital, where she set up and had charge of hospital arrangmeants to receive the first casualties to be returned from Guadalcanal. From California, she went to New Caledouia where she served from March. 1943 until transferred to Mare Island.
