Woman Recruiter for Marines to be in Burlington Thursday
TSgt Dorothy L. Angil, USMC, will be in Burlington on Thursday, Feb. 7 to interview young women between the ages of 18—31 who are interested -in becoming Marines. Sgt. Afcgir'jvill be located in the Burlington Marine Recruiting Office, Room 208, the Post Office Building.
Sgt. Ansfi aid her sister, both natives of Minnesota, enlisted in the Marines in February of 1943, the first group sworn in at DHRS Minneapolis after the Marine Corps opened enlistments for women. They attended 'boot camp' at Hunter college, New York City, and were then transferred to Philadelphia, Pa. From Philadelphia they were assigned to recruiting in Manchester, N. H., and from Manchester back to Philadelphia.
TSgt Angil was discharged in ; Washington, D. C, in November of . 1945 and reenlisted in August of 1950. Her total Marine Corps time is over ■ 4 years which makes her eligible to wear a service stripe. She was sent to Des Moines In September of : 1950 for recruiting duty and has been there since that time. In Oc- ! tober of 1951 she married a Marine who is now serving in Korea.
Before enlisting in the Marine Corps, Sgt Angil was a private secretary for two officers of one o'f the leading grain companies in Minneapolis, but the saying "Once a Marine, Always a Marine" seems to hold true for women as well as men. They also serve with pride. ____________
