Red Oak, Iowa
S 1943 at Prisoner of War is Wearing
The garb of prisoners or war becomes of interest to Iowans due
to the Dec. 15 activation of the prisoner1 camps at Clarinda. A U. S.
army officer poses in these pictures to show Iowans what the work
| uniforms o£ the prisoner of war looks like. The letters "PW" (pris-
| cner of war) are conspicuously marked on coats, shirts, blouses and
I jackets of the work uniform but not on national uniforms of officer
prisoners and prisoner enlisted men. Escapes are rare but military,
authorities ask any person observing a suspicious individual or prowler
wearing a "PW" outer garment or any part of a German uniform to
I call collect the telephone operator at Clarinda.------*'*
