Volunteer group to Make Study of Displaced Persons
DES Moines & - Seventeen persons repressing churches, labor, I agriculture and welfare groups\T?3|rsdaJ| volunteered to serve as owa committee on resettlement of the displaced persons of Europe.
Announcement of the committee was made by Secretary of State Rollo Bergeson, who will act as chairman of the group. The committee will have its headquarters in his office at the statehouse.
Bergeson said the committee members represent organizations which have announced interest in a program to assist displaced persons.
Two weeks ago Gov. Robert D. Blue refused to appoint a committee to study the displaced persons problem from a state standpoint. At that time Blue told a committee which called at his office that it is "a federal matter that should be acted upon at the federal level before it is considered at the state level."
Most of the persons who called on Blue are on the committee announced Thursday.
