The prisoner <$f war ©mp at the Hardin county pfair grounds will continue to operate as a result of a new contract i between the" War Hemp Industries and the Prisoner of War Camp commander at Al-gona. The new contract is effective Dec. IS, and runs until April of 1945. The step was taken to enable the use of the prisoner labor in the hemp fields, Captain Charles Lawyer, commanding officer of the camp here, said.
A large quantity of hemp is still in the fields in the Grundy Center territory where the prisoners here have been working and it must be | moved to the stockyards. Early» winter snows have slowed work.
Effective immediately prison labor is open for local use by farmers and others who have extra work. Persons wishing to make arrangement for such help are asked to ca
