Comments?  Suggestions?  Errors?

In later life, Darling said he had drawn about 15,000 cartoons in the course of his career. They appeared in many publications, and Darling was generous in giving away original drawings.  Consequently the project has drawn on many sources to bring over 10,000 cartoons online in this data base, and we appreciate help in locating any of the 5,000 cartoons that are still “missing.”

Building the “metadata” records that accompany each image has also been a daunting job that has brought together many resources and the work of many people.  While it is relatively easy to transcribe the title of a cartoon and any words that appear in it, it is vastly more difficult to identify individuals who are caricatured and to recover accurately the historical events on which Darling is commenting. We know there is much information of this kind still to be gathered and formatted, and we welcome assistance.
